【本報訊】上周五（25日）發生的保時捷跑車撞死路人案，肇事司機於昨日投案，其今年19歲，是蘭實大學大一學生，自稱事發時車速達120公里。警方稱，該大學生涉嫌大意駕駛導致他人死亡，以及肇事逃逸，鑒於主動投案並且配合調查，因此允許其父母保釋。

肇事司機披叻蓬昨天下午在其父母及其他親屬陪同下，到巴吞他尼警署投案。其供稱，事發之時車速約每小時120公里，開在右車道。一輛公車停在左車道，被撞女子突然從公車前面跑出來，導致他來不及反應才釀成事故，當時他嚇得不知所措，繼續開出10公里後棄車離開。

警方表示，車禍遇難者為一名寮國籍17歲少女。暫時以大意駕駛導致他人死亡、肇事逃逸對披叻蓬定罪，鑒於主動投案且配合調查，因此允許保釋。

THAILAND - A RANGSIT University student who allegedly drove his Porsche into a young woman last Friday, cutting her body into half, has surrendered to police yesterday.

He has been released on bail after being charged with manslaughter and hit-and-run.

The suspect, who cannot be identified because he is 19 years of age, apologised for hitting and killing 17-year-old Khambai Inthilad, a Laotian, before driving a further 10 kilometres and fleeing from the car in panic.

"I was shocked, and did not know what to do. I did not intend to escape," he told reporters. In his initial statement to police, the suspect said the victim abruptly stepped out from a blind spot in front of a parked bus, and he was driving at 120 kph.

The unnamed suspect showed up at Muang Pathum Thani police station wearing a hat and a mask to protect his identity. He was taken to police by his father and a relative, Jaran Thatsiriworrawat, who said the family was sorry for what happened and was ready to be held responsible.

The victim legally entered and resided in Thailand, and is eligible for compensatory payment, as a Thai victim would be under the same conditions, police said.

Police quoted a witness as saying that the 17-year-old girl, who worked in a shop, had just bought her lunch from a noodle stall and was crossing the road when the accident happened.

It took place at 2.30pm on the Pathum Thani-Bang Bua Thong Road in front of Parichart Housing Estate in Muang district.

Initially, only the lower half of her body was found in the middle of the road.

Later, the upper half of the body was found in the Porsche's passenger's seat, which was left about 10km from the scene.

The upper half of the body had crashed through the windshield and landed there.
