The Edifier W860NB has some similar sonic characteristics as the previous Edifier H840 that I tested a few years ago. It produces a neutral tone with a slight boost in the lows. The bass is not really tight and punchy as I expected, it is slightly boomy but still doesn’t make the sound muddy. In fact, the lows are way better than most cheap bass-heavy headphones on the market, at least, they are not overwhelming other frequency ranges.
As such, with TV and film, the Edifier sounds bigger, more confident and more capable than any soundbar I’ve listened to over the last few years barring the real monsters heading towards the £1,000 point.

From the TV everything was crisp and clear, with an incredible level of depth and texture. Setting up a system like this will certainly give you a higher appreciation for sound editors, as even a simple scene from a sitcom sounded richer and more complicated.

In all, the AirPulse A100 speakers are exceptionally well made, especially for their size. The decision to go with ribbon tweeters is welcome and you would be hard pressed to find similar quality in bookshelf sized speakers at this price point.
