Test performance 2005

Reliability estimates for the objectively and subjectively scored modules used in 2005 are reported here.

IELTS is assessed on a nine-band scale and reports scores both overall and by individual skill. Overall Band Scores for Academic and General Training candidates in 2005 are reported here together with scores for the individual skills.

Percentile ranks 2005

In addition overall band percentile data is reported for candidates grouped in terms of their purpose for taking IELTS and by their first language and country of region of origin.

I have taken examinations which the papers are similar to this test.FCE(First Certificate in English)

Listening-it should be british,US,new zealand,Australlia accent
          This is the list of things you have to see base on your level. CCTV(if you're newbie,the most easy accent ever,China men),secondly CNN(US accent),and the most difficult (BBC-British Broadcasting Centre).You may also watch english movies.
This is how i practise at home.

Speaking-You have to interact with the examiner and able to speak individually,a "long turn without interruption",and a collaborative task(discussion between both candidates).-Speak withot stoppages,speak elegently.Grammar=English,English=grammar.Start thinking using english,because you will speak base on what you think.Speak English everyday.

Writing-You have to write base on structure,not writing from your brain.When you write facts,Use S.E.I(State ,explain and illustrate) method.When you write story,use 5W1H(What,Why,Which,When,Who,How),but first of all,jot down your points ASAP,and arrage them in sequence.

Reading-requires to understnd the main points in text,deduce meaning,identify text structure and extract specific details.
every-day situations,leaflets,newspapers and magazines or letters will be the materials(style and content of the tests)

My advice:
If you don't have any formal lesson in English,do not take this exams,you would find it's very difficult.
Learning a language especially english will not take only 3-4 months,it takes years.
However,if you insist,you may take and you have to do practice everday at home.
Do not speak broken english,because you will fail badly.

Take examinations-Don't ever depend on LUCK,you will face many difficulties later.WE WANT A CERTAIN,NOT LUCK,NOT GUESS.

Please dont apply any courses especially those holiday 3-months courses,this's good for pocket of trainers,bad for learners' brain.Learning language is not 3month -4 month,so if you want take,you may go to a language centre like british council to study for a year or two.
However,now im taking CAE(Certificate of Advanced English) course which is 1 year,i will be taking this exams in the mid of Dicember.

If you follow a formal lesson on language,you'll improve very fast.
If you do informal lesson(means study by yourself),it's very slow for you to improve.

I plan to apply for a scholarship which need my IELTS result as
well. The closing date for the application ll be on 30 April.
So, i dun think i hv time to follow those 1 year course now. I
am planning to take the exam without attending any intensive
class. Anyway, i am preparing for the exam on my own by
downloading specimen papers from a few websites and watching
those tv channel which suggested by darksider. I need to get 6.5 and above in IELTS to fulfil the requirement for the scholarship.
But, i am wondering the effort i put in is enough for me to get 6.5 and above.  HELP ME!!!!!!

It depends on you,what's your level of english?Can you speak english flawlessly,fluently and without stoppages?Have you mastered grammar?You have to work very hard(informal lesson),it's very difficult.

what you said is true, I also plan to take a course in penang british council. To improve our language, which course do you think is more suitable ? The course you taking now isn't part time course ? And how much the fees ?

if you want to improve your english language only,dont take FCE/CAE,KET or other tuition centre is already enough.I dont know how much is the fee actually,you may refer their official websites.

FCE/CAE trains you skill like communication skills,writing skill,reading skill and listening skill.
By the way,im not studying in B.Council,it's very expensive.
I'm studying at BELL.

FCE examination-rm 400 registration fee
KET-i think it's cheaper ,i haven't taken it.

BELL Language centre is at Air Itam, therefore is very convenient to me because I am living Air Itam too.
By the way, I am doing my degree now, that's why I am afraid I do not have enough time to handle both courses concurrently.

CAE-7.30-9.30 Friday night.
FCE-7.30-9.30 Thursday night.
im not certain about ket/pet but i think it's around monday to wednesday.

You may phone them and appeal for information about the capacity now,i dont mention last lesson.There's no age restriction there,any ages are welcome.

Well,it's only a TEST,which the result's computer-printed.You can take this test anytime at anywhere.

What can IELTS results paper do?
-Admission to University
-Duration only 2 years(no one will tell you this)


in the third year,this's rubbish,you can throw it away.You may take this test again if you want.
Never put this in your certificate/degree folder,you're sending negative msg to people.

IELTS=Admission to university
TOEFL=Admission to college

Test(lvl 1)>Certificate(lvl 2)>Degree(lvl 3)>2nd-degree>(lvl4)>Phd(lvl 5)
IELTS       FCE CAE CPE        
TOEFL       STPM SPM
KET
PET


To the person who're asking me question,the courses offers by BELL are year-course,the fee is taken monthly.Unfortunately,now there's fully occupy,you may go there and leave your name and contact number there,when there's vacancy,they will contact you ASAP.

IELTS is a TEST
And it's merely function is gain admission to University,the results paper will only last for 2 years,by the third year,it will has been rubbish.

Why take IELTS?
Grant the admission to University.

if you reserve a place in your folder for this computer-printed paper,you're stupid.
When you interview,they will see your certificate/degree file holder,however,if you put a "computer-printed" paper and this paper is only gain admission to university,nothing but admission to university,they will think how can you put such test there,and they will know you are silly to put this,that's why i say you're sending negative message to people when they first look at your folder.All right,get what i mean?

I'm not curbing your enthusiasm to take this test,i just tell you the fact.
Take this examination only if you gain the admission(if you dont have any english qualification) to the university,this is the appropriate exam.
