Application for financial aid to pursue bachelors
I am ???, a Diploma in pharmacy graduate. The reason I am writing an email to you is to seek for financial aid to pursue my bachelors. The degree that I am looking into is not a Pharmacy degree but TESOL. I have always been very passionate about teaching English. I took up pharmacy due to parents interest and along the way of me completing my diploma, they have realized that my passion for English language is at its peak. No doubt, I have graduated with 3.0 CGPA in diploma in pharmacy only to full fill my parents desire and I am more than blessed that all my hard work has paid off when they have gave me the ultimatum to choose my pathway. I am 23 years old this year but that has not degrade my motivation to continue studying. The diploma in pharmacy that i have studied will not go to waste because I have gained a vast knowledge on the pharmaceutical world. I have actively participated in English Language activities during school and university days. I was the school`s and the university`s parliamentary English debater. I was a volunteer English teacher under the NGO known as EWRF. I was teaching students from year 1 to year 3 of SJKT Sg. Pari Ipoh,Perak. My father is an ex policeman,66 years old, served the government for almost 38 years and with the expenses these days which are at an alarming rate makes it difficult for him to manage the household expenses. Thus,he wont be able to take care of my expenditures. My humble request is for you to consider my application. It would be a great help if you could help me create an opportunity to brighten up my future and to make my dream a reality. I am reachable via my mobile ?????? anytime. Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
?????
My comment: After completing a Pharmacy Diploma, she expects to get my scholarship to qualify as an English teacher!

Poor Applicant studying in UK
Greetings Madam,
My name is Miss ???, and I am from Malaysia currently pursuing my degree in Bachelor of Laws in University of Liverpool, UK. I came across the news about the Koon Yew Yin scholarship recently. I am writing to request if I would stand an opportunity to get a scholarship under the Koon Yew Yin scholarship. I am committed to pursuing a career as a professional lawyer and, I have making progress toward earning a degree in the field with a good grade point average.
The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend a proper school or college, and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They came up in life solely based on their experiences. They have both had to work multiple jobs to reach where they are now to a stable position in life. However, they made a commitment in their life to give their children the best education, to do everything within their power to instil in us a fondness in learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication in life. Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to academic achievement even though money has always been tight.
As you know, university education is quite expensive, but it is an investment that is certainly worthwhile. My parents used their EPF money and I applied for a partial loan from Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (KOJADI) as an incoming third year freshman, which helped me paying for my educational expense; partial tuition fees and accommodation rent. However, as to the current drop in our Malaysian currency, my parents are facing some difficulties in paying one more final payment. We are now short of one more payment which is approximately RM 30,000 which the due date for the payment will be 2nd of March 2016. If we can even receive a small sum of scholarship we would really appreciate it.
Ever since I have arrived to UK, I have applied for a few part time jobs so that I can take care of my daily expense which will lessen the burden for my parents, unfortunately it is not as easy it seems, as I have to wait for vacancies.
I am also the first one in the entire family to study abroad to pursue a higher education, thus I hold a great burden to perform well, prove to myself and to make my parents proud and to pay off for all the sacrifices they have made for me. Besides that, my father’s bring back income is smaller than my mother’s and that she has to support and contribute greatly. We are three of us siblings in the family, as my parents have to contribute for my sibling’s future education as well.
I know for a fact that this Koon Yew Yin scholarship is for the locals however I would greatly appreciate your consideration. Please know that the scholarship will make a positive impact on my ability to continue with my university life smoothly and will be greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
My comment: Why would any student go to study in UK if he is poor?

A poor medical student needs my scholarship
I was one of the second year medical student who wished to apply for Koon Yew Yin scholarship but after reading your husband’s post in investor.com just now, my heart was broken. I am not a top student in my batch with average CGPA 2.42 but I try my best to be one of them. I am not a straight A in SPM but i got 8As in total of 10 subjects and with 3.75 CGPA in my foundation in Aimst University.
My father is a carpenter with salary RM1500 per month and my mother is an office girl with basic salary RM 1200 but they work hard in order to provide sufficient money for me to take MBBS in Aimst University. Yes, I borrow RM150000 from PTPTN and my parents have to spend average about RM3000 per month on me. I am sure you are wondering how a family with income about RM2700 can provide RM3000 for their son to take medical education in private university, cause my brother works in Singapore with a basic salary about SD1800 and provides about RM2000 per month for me in order to pursue OUR DREAM. I have one elder brother and sister, they are working. We hope one of us can come out with name doctor to make our parents proud and I am the only hope because my father is an illiteracy and he works as carpenter when he was 10 years old until today (53 years old).
Regarding the pay back role of PTPTN, I have to pay back RM750 per month for 20 years. Yes, it is 240 months with low interest (1% from total loan in 20 years), but not monthly RM2000 for about 20 years. There is a minimal requirements set by the government (MQA and specific agent) for every university in Malaysia to enroll students and I have a few of friends retake their foundation in order to enter the degree course in Aimst. Aimst will never lower the minimal requirement, mark up the marks or makes the exam become low standard to complete the quota. Aimst have increased the minimal requirements for foundation student to continue degree course in here from recent years.
Yes, Mr Koon Yew Yin is a hero for me, he started offering scholarship to assist needy poor student for the past ten years to help the one who indeed of help. Yes, the life of doctor is not easy but tough. If I can pursue my dream and make my parents proud of US, it is worth than anything.
My comment: Why would any poor student want to study medicine knowing the tuition fee alone cost between Rm 250,000 to one million Ringgit?

PETALING JAYA: “We have to learn from our mistakes and be careful the next time.”
In owning up to issuing a badly written press statement, that went viral all too quickly, a Hospital Kuala Lumpur spokesperson explained it was a case of a document being released without proper vetting.
The press statement, prepared by the hospital’s public relations unit read: “Prime Minister Malaysia Dato Sri Haji Mohammad Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak under went a minor surgical proceduar to remove a small benign growth on right hand. It was done as out patient
“The operation was successful and Dato Seri returned to rest.”
Speaking to FMT, the spokesperson said the mistakes were pointed out to him on Sunday, a day after it was released to the public.
“I was not aware of the typos, the formatting errors and spelling mistakes until my friends informed me personally.
“We were criticised, but there was nothing much we could do as it already spread on social media, just like the case of the Caesar Salad,” the spokesperson said, alluding to an embarrassing spelling error spotted on a menu at a Parliament dinner.
