Former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan is interested in a return to the NBA.

Sloan told The Salt Lake Tribune on Tuesday that he has talked to Charlotte owner Michael Jordan about the Bobcats’ job and could meet with him as early as this week.

Earlier in the day, Sloan told Fox Sports Florida that he would consider taking the job in Orlando, if it were ever offered. The Magic fired coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith on Monday.

Reached at his farm outside McLeansboro, Ill., Sloan made it clear he would like to return to coaching after being away from basketball for 15 months.

Sloan resigned as coach of the Jazz in February of 2011, citing fatigue after 23 seasons.

Asked if he had talked to any team about a job opening, Sloan mentioned Jordan and the Bobcats, who finished 7-59 during the lockout-shortened season and then fired coach Paul Silas.

According to Sloan, undertaking such a massive rebuilding job would not prevent him from considering Charlotte.

"Obviously, you probably wouldn’t win [a championship] right off the bat," he said. "But sometimes it’s not all about starting on top."

If Sloan ever went to work for Jordan, Jazz fans would certainly see the irony.

Under Sloan, Utah reached the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals. Both times, Sloan and Jazz were beaten in six games by Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

Utah spent the initial four hours of the 2012 NBA Draft on Thursday quietly watching and waiting, then finally selected Murphy — a 6-foot-7, 185-pound shooting guard from Tennessee Tech — with the No. 47 overall pick in the second round.

"I’m just blessed to be picked," said the 22-year-old Murphy, who admires former second-round pick Paul Millsap but acknowledged all he knows about the state of Utah is it’s "up there in the mountains, somewhere."

The Jazz previously lost a potential first-round lottery pick to Golden State, which selected North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes at No. 7.

If Utah had received the pick, it could have taken Duke’s Austin Rivers, Connecticut’s Jeremy Lamb, North Carolina’s Kendall Marshall and Washington’s Terrence Ross, all of whom were chosen soon after Barnes.

Instead, the Jazz’s lone addition was a small-college guard with a quick release whose statistics improved all four seasons.

"We just took the highest guy [on our draft board]," said O’Connor, at the Jazz’s draft party inside EnergySolutions Arena.

He added: "He’s an older player, he can make a shot, and he seems to be comfortable shooting off the dribble. I don’t want to pigeonhole the guy just as a shooter, because he can take it to the basket. … He’s a nice player. He’s got an opportunity to make the team. But it’s up to him."

During a draft Utah played little part in, Williams’ potential return to Salt Lake City dominated Jazz news.

　　经过多日的磋商，一笔涉及四队的交易最终完成。快船(微博)队把29岁的莫-威廉姆斯送到爵士，从小牛队得到了奥多姆，小牛队则获得了来自爵士820万美元的交易特例。另外，小牛从爵士得到了前锋塔迪亚-德拉季切维奇的签约权，并从火箭得到现金补偿。快船则把次轮新秀福尔坎-阿尔德米尔的签约权送给了火箭。
　　莫-威廉姆斯的经纪人周五确认，他的客户已经同意加盟爵士。同时作为一笔四方交易的一部分，奥多姆重回快船(微博)的交易也宣告完成。
　　据马克-巴特尔(微博)斯特恩透露，这笔交易最终于当地时间下午3点45分确定，爵士预计于周一或周二举行新闻发布会，迎接小莫。
　　爵士在2003年选秀上选中了莫-威廉姆斯，但小莫在爵士只打了一个赛季，爵士总经理凯文-奥康纳曾表示这是他做过的最糟糕的决定。

Veteran guard Mo Williams is expected to soon join the Jazz, a league source with direct knowledge of negotiations told The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday.

Williams will return to Utah, who drafted him in 2003 with the No. 47 overall pick.

Williams is expected to be part of a multi-team deal involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks, the source said. As reported Thursday by ESPN, the Mavericks would receive a trade exception from Utah while the Clippers would obtain the mercurial but talented Odom.

Messages left for Jazz General Manager Kevin O’Connor on Friday haven’t been returned.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Houston also played a part in the deal. The Rockets will receive the draft rights to Turkish power forward Furkan Aldemir - selected by the Clippers with the No. 53 overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft - while the Mavericks will obtain cash from Houston.

Williams holds an $8.5 million expiring contract next season. His decision to opt in to the contract was the only issue holding up the trade. Williams hesitated because he wanted to choose the right path for his future in the NBA. After exploring several options, the nine-year veteran decided his best move was to re-join the team that drafted him.

The Tribune confirmed Thursday the Jazz were attempting to trade for Williams during the build up toward the NBA Draft. However, the deal wasn’t completed until Friday afternoon.

Utah originally drafted Williams out of Alabama. He played just one season for the Jazz before signing an offer sheet with Milwaukee that Utah didn’t match. O’Connor said late Thursday his decision not to keep Williams was the biggest mistake he’s made since he started working for the organization.

Through nine seasons with four teams, the 29-year-old Williams has averaged 13.8 points and 4.9 assists while shooting 44.1 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent behind the 3-point line.

Williams helped guide the Clippers to the Western Conference semifinals last season. He’ll team with Devin Harris and Earl Watson in the Jazz’s backcourt.

　　马文-威廉姆斯是05年的榜眼秀，目前还有两年合同，下赛季的年薪为830万美元，2013-14赛季的薪金为750万，场均得到11.5分5.2个篮板和1.2次助攻。由于遭受伤病的影响，这位锋卫摇摆人并没有达到人们的预期。

　　29岁的哈里斯上赛季场均得到11.3分和5次助攻，哈里斯在2007年签下的5年总价值4840万的肥约，将在明年夏天到期。

Chan兄 猫兄 不要气馁。黄蜂那场比赛固然可惜，马刺主场向来是爵士的死穴。Mo William 今天打马刺第三节展现他的得分爆发力，几乎靠个人能力追上落后的19分。我个人觉得PG 这个位置补强会好过上一季的 Devin Harris。

希望接下来会越打越好。

　　北京时间11月8日，NBA常规赛继续进行，虽然科比末节砍下球队最后16分，但依靠弗耶第四节中段的连环三分，爵士队还是在主场以95-86击败湖人队，取得对对手的3连胜，湖人开赛目前1胜4败。
　　数据方面：爵士队莫-威廉姆斯16分，弗耶17分，杰弗森18分10篮板；湖人队科比29分，霍华德19分9篮板，乔丹-希尔4分12篮板。
　　技术统计
　　湖人本场失利后排名西区垫底，全场比赛他们投篮命中率仅为33.8%，而爵士则有44.6%，这让湖人在罚球线上46罚32中对18罚16中的巨大优势失去了意义。另外全场湖人仅仅送出11次助攻，比爵士少了10次，另外还出现了18次失误。
