爵士的新秀土耳其中锋 Kanter 抓下10个篮板,不过得分只有6分。Okur 归队作为正选中锋,18分钟得3分。顶替 Deron 的正选 PG Devin Harris 得10分。前 All Star Josh Howard 5分钟 得0分。。。

亮点是 Derrick Favor 29分钟得  25分12篮板

Matthews scores 17 in Blazers' win over Jazz

By ANNE M. PETERSON
Posted Dec 20 2011 12:40AM

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Wesley Matthews scored 17 points in 23 minutes as the Portland Trail Blazers built an early lead and bea the Utah Jazz 110-90 in the teams' preseason opener Monday night.

Nicolas Batum started in place of LaMarcus Aldridge and had 13 points in 22 minutes and the Blazers led by as many as 24 points.

Derrick Favors came off the bench with 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Jazz.

Utah was without Paul Millsap, who has right quadriceps tendinitis. Al Jefferson, who has been bothered by a sore left hamstring, started and scored seven points, and newcomer Josh Howard played five scoreless minutes.

The Blazers head to Utah on Wednesday night for the second exhibition, the only warm-up games before the start of the lockout-shortened regular season.

Miles scores 17 to lead Jazz over Blazers 92-89

By LYNN DeBRUIN
Posted Dec 22 2011 1:02AM

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah Jazz big man Al Jefferson knows the Portland Trail Blazers are a very good team.

"But they're not 20 points better than us," Jefferson said after Utah's 110-90 loss to the Blazers on Monday night.

The Jazz made up for the embarrassing setback with a 92-89 win over the Trail Blazers on Wednesday night in the preseason finale for both teams.

"From the beginning we came out with a sense of purpose," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "We struggled a bit on offense, but defense really got us a win. We made some great stops."

After shooting 55 percent Monday, Portland was held to just 35.4 percent in the rematch.

Reserve C.J. Miles scored 17 points for Utah, including a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds left to help the Jazz hold on.

Jefferson added 15 points and nine rebounds.

Raymond Felton led the Trail Blazers with 17 points, and LaMarcus Aldridge had 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Second-year pro Derrick Favors, who had 25 points and 12 rebounds Monday, started for Utah and scored just seven points because of early foul trouble.

"It's just growing pains," Favors said.

But he proclaimed himself ready to be a starter in the NBA if that's what Corbin decides.

Corbin said before the game that Paul Millsap, who missed his second straight game with right quad tendinitis, had earned a right to start but that may not always be the best option.

Corbin went with Jefferson and Millsap as his big men, with Gordon Hayward starting at small forward.

"It feels great playing with Al," Favors said. "He's a veteran guy, takes a lot of the pressure off in the post."

Jefferson liked the combo as well, especially with Favors able to take on more athletic players such as Aldridge.

That Aldridge was playing was good news for the Blazers.

He missed the start of training camp to receive treatment for Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a condition which causes the ventricles of the heart to prematurely contract. He played 37 minutes but finished 5 of 17 from the field.

"He looked rusty, but that's to be expected," Portland coach Nate McMillan said. "It was good for him to get a game in. He's trying to get a rhythm and I wanted to work on a game rotation."

Both teams were without starters. While Utah was without Millsap, Portland's Marcus Camby sat out pending an MRI on his left knee - though McMillan didn't believe the injury was serious.

Portland led by nine points early but Utah fought back and had an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter until the Blazers charged back behind Jamal Crawford and Wesley Matthews.

Matthews' 3-pointer with 50 seconds left cut the gap to 90-89, but Aldridge turned it over on Portland's next possession and allowed Miles to seal it at the free throw line. Crawford's shot at the buzzer missed.

The Jazz came out with much more energy than they did in Monday's loss, but the aggressiveness put them in early foul trouble. Hayward picked up his third less than halfway through the first quarter, Favors had his third just a minute later and Raja Bell had three with 4 minutes remaining.

The Jazz took their first lead - 36-35 - on a three-point play by Jeremy Evans off a pass from Jamaal Tinsley. Josh Howard then scored on a driving layup on an assist from Miles to push Utah's lead to 38-35.

The points were the first for Howard, a free-agent signed last week. He finished with eight.

Utah still is looking for more production from its guards.

Devin Harris had 10 points in 14 minutes but just one assist, and Bell scored only one point in 21 minutes.

"We got new guys here and we're still trying to get to know each other," Harris said. "It's going to take a bit of time."

That's a luxury no one has with the season starting in just a few days.

"This is the one time in my life I wish we had more preseason games," Jefferson said.

Nene scores 25 as Nuggets rout Jazz, 117-100

Posted Dec 29 2011 1:10AM
DENVER (AP)  The Denver Nuggets' fast-paced style is making everything look easy.
Nene scored 25 points, reserve Al Harrington had 18 points and seven rebounds, and the Nuggets rolled to a 117-100 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.
Ty Lawson had 15 points and Danilo Gallinari had 11 points and five rebounds for the Nuggets, who have won their first two games by double digits.
"Can't complain about much tonight," Nuggets coach George Karl said. "There are very few selfish basketball plays out there. There's a sound commitment to playing the way the team plays best and that's just attack, attack, attack."
After some prodding by his teammates, Nene did just that in an efficient 24 minutes. He hit 10 of 13 shots, made all five of his foul shots and pulled down seven rebounds. He also sparked a decisive run in the first half that gave Denver control of the game.
"He's so unselfish sometimes we have to say, `Nene, go the basket, get a bucket,"' Lawson said. "When he does that we know if he gets in trouble he can also find the open man. Sometimes we have to push him to get more aggressive."
Al Jefferson had 19 points and rookie Alec Burks added 15 points for Utah, which was blown out for the second consecutive night.
Paul Millsap and C.J. Miles scored 13 apiece for the Jazz.

Jazz get first win of the season over Philadelphia, 102-99

By Brian T. Smith

The Salt Lake Tribune
First published Dec 30 2011 11:15PM
Updated Dec 31, 2011 12:28AM

It was more than effort. More than energy, teamwork or a united fight. It was youth. Youth that carried the Jazz on Friday night, and youth that captured Utah’s first victory of the 2011-12 season.

Rallying from a 13-point second-quarter deficit, the Jazz edged the Philadelphia 76ers 102-99 Friday night at EnergySolutions Arena before a sellout crowd of 19,911.

The game marked Utah’s (1-2) home opener and first official contest in Salt Lake City since April 13, due to the NBA lockout.

When the battle was over, coach Tyrone Corbin breathed easier, laughed loudly and spoke with pride. Gordon Hayward, 21, talked of confidence — reacting instead of thinking, pulling the trigger instead of just passing. And Derrick Favors? The 20-year-old power forward who didn’t learn he was starting at center until he saw Al Jefferson’s name removed from a locker-room dry-erase board about 45 minutes before tipoff took the next step toward what he spent last summer striving for.

Favors poured in a career-high 20 points on 10-of-16 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds and at times absolutely dominated the paint. He was a beast throughout and often downright nasty, wrestling for loose balls and clogging up the lane with his long arms and muscular frame. He refused to settle and refused to back down against 76ers (1-2) center Spencer Hawes. And when Favors walked off the court, he looked like it was just another day at work. He chewed his mouthpiece, strode with a swagger, slapped fans’ hands, entered an ESA tunnel and then met his 11-year-old brother, Brandon, inside the Jazz’s locker room.

After being benched Friday morning for Paul Millsap, Favors responded like a 10-year-veteran. He didn’t flinch, didn’t pout. When he learned he was a last-minute replacement for Jefferson, he told Big Al he would step up and hold the line.

“I’m a basketball player, and I do whatever coach wants me to do,” Favors said. “If he wants me to come off the bench, I’ll come off the bench. If he wants me to start, I’ll start.”

Whatever Corbin decides, he acknowledged it’s getting harder and harder to keep Favors off the court. The second-year player appears to improve with every single minute he clocks, which is a key reason Corbin made him Utah’s starting power forward for the first two games of the season.

Jefferson has 22 points, Jazz beat Hornets 94-90
By LYNN DeBRUIN
Posted Jan 03 2012 1:31AM
SALT LAKE CITY (AP)  Devin Harris worked hard on his 3-point shooting this past summer.
It finally seems to be paying off for the Utah Jazz guard, even if his biggest one against New Orleans got a friendly bounce off the front of the rim before dropping through.
Harris hit a late 3 in a tie game to give Utah the lead, and he added three free throws to seal a 94-90 win over the Hornets on Monday night.
"It felt short," Harris said of his big 3-pointer, "but I've got to give the man upstairs credit on that one. It trickled in and we needed it in a big way."
Harris finished with 19 points and also had a key assist down the stretch.
"He's getting better; the guys are getting better reading off him," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said of his point guard, who was just 4 of 14 this season from 3-point range coming in before going 3 of 6 against the Hornets.
Harris gave credit to center Al Jefferson, who led Utah with a season-high 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting. He had 12 points alone in the first 7 minutes of the third quarter.
"With Al playing the way he's playing, he's going to command a double team," Harris said. "And you'll get open shots on the weak side. Playing through him is working for us."
There were plenty of contributions across the board, with Utah's reserves scoring 44 points, including 13 from free-agent acquisition Josh Howard and 11 by C.J. Miles.
Howard scored six straight points for Utah in the third as the Jazz tied the score at 80. But his biggest play was an offensive rebound that gave Utah a second chance with under a minute to play. A few seconds later, Harris zipped the ball to Paul Millsap on the pick-and-roll for a jam that put Utah up 91-86.
"I snuck in there, but I had to get my young Wake Forest alum out of the way," Howard said of 6-9 forward Al-Farouq Aminu. "That was a big possession."
Miles didn't let spending the whole first quarter on the bench bother him. He finished strong, with five points, two rebounds and a steal in the fourth quarter.
"I have great respect for C.J., not getting to play in the first half like he wanted to, then coming in and not hanging his head and giving a performance like he did," Howard said. "He keeps trucking. We fed off that and picked up a big win."
The Jazz (2-3) won their second at home to offset three blowout losses on the road. Utah plays 12 of 15 January games at home before kicking off a brutal road schedule.
"It's not time to panic, but obviously we got to do a better job on the road," Harris said. "We need to find that confidence."

Jefferson scores 26 in Jazz's 85-73 win over Bucks

Posted Jan 04 2012 12:52AM

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) When Utah's Al Jefferson was told Andrew Bogut was a surprise scratch from the Milwaukee Bucks' lineup on Tuesday, he replied with just two words: "Thank God!"

Jefferson has often struggled against the Australian center, but took advantage of Bogut's absence with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the Jazz's 85-73 victory over the Bucks.

"I looked at it like I had a good opportunity to get going. I wanted to be more active," Jefferson said.

After shooting 2 for 16 in the season opener, Jefferson has steadily improved to again take his place as the centerpiece of Utah's offense.

"I've been a scorer all my life. That's why I didn't panic after that first game," he said. "My teammates have kept their trust in me and kept getting the ball into me."

Paul Millsap had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Gordon Hayward added 12 points for the Jazz. Hayward scored five points on back-to-back possessions and Millsap added a jumper on the next offensive set to clinch the game with 1:07 to play.

"They gambled a little bit and overextended themselves and I was able to take advantage of it," Hayward said.

Drew Gooden had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Bucks but didn't have the inside presence of Bogut as the Jazz had plenty of point-blank looks at the basket. Bogut missed the game due to personal matters and Mike Dunleavy was out with groin pain.

"It's tough," Gooden said. "We can't win scoring 70-80 points."

The Bucks also won't win many games unless they shoot better. Led by Brandon Jennings' 4-for-19 performance, the Bucks were just 31 percent and had 10 shots blocked by the Jazz, including a career-best five by Derrick Favors.

"Derrick was superman out there with his five blocks. He did a great job converging on shots inside," Utah coach Ty Corbin said.

The game marked the third back-to-back set of the compressed season for the Jazz. They lost the back end of the other two, but were playing at home on consecutive nights for the first time since 2008 and improved to 3-0 in Energy Solutions Arena.

"When we bring the energy and the crowd gets behind us, it's just kind of a snowball effect and we're able to create a run," Hayward said.

The Jazz experienced injury problems of their own with Josh Howard and Devin Harris. With 1:53 left in the first quarter, Howard went to locker room with left quad strain and did not return. Harris left the game with 6:37 left in the third period with a strained left calf and also missed the rest of the contest.

Millsap limped off the court midway through the fourth quarter but returned to help the Jazz close out the Bucks. The injuries forced the Jazz to play rookie Alec Burks a season-high 28 minutes and showed some odd combinations Corbin hadn't played before.

"With our team, we're going to have to use everybody and Burks maximized his time," Corbin said after Burks finished with nine points and six assists.

Jefferson, Jazz bench key 94-85 win over Grizzlies

Posted Jan 07 2012 12:49AM
SALT LAKE CITY (AP)  The Utah Jazz have a winning record for the first time this season and feel like they're just getting started.
"Everything is going the right direction. I feel like we're just scratching the surface. The positive energy on the team is just amazing," guard Earl Watson said.
Al Jefferson had 20 points and nine rebounds, and the Jazz reserves, led by Watson, outscored their Memphis Grizzlies counterparts by 30 points on the way to a 94-85 victory Friday night.
"We feel like our five off the bench could start in this league. We five off the bench believe we can dominate and change the game," said Watson, who had 11 points and five assists as the Jazz reserves outscored the depleted Memphis bench 41-11.
Paul Millsap scored 14 and Josh Howard had 13 points and a key steal in the fourth quarter to help Utah (4-3) stay unbeaten at home in four games.
The Jazz harassed the Grizzlies into 6-for-33 shooting in the fourth quarter and the interior defenders repeatedly challenged at the rim to block 10 shots, boosting their NBA-leading average of 7.5 per game.
"I thought our defense was about as good as I've seen it from one to five. The stuff we did on the defensive end was really encouraging," Utah coach Ty Corbin said.
Tony Allen made two free throws to give Memphis a 63-56 lead, its largest of the second half, with 4:56 left in the third quarter. But the Jazz, with all reserves on the court, went on an 11-1 run to end the period, capped by an offensive rebound and fallaway shot by rookie Enes Kanter that brought the crowd to its feet and put Utah up 67-64.
"I should be embarrassed to say it, but sometimes we start out or play a little sluggish but Derrick Favors and Big Turkey (Kanter) come in and show us how to do it. When we come back in, we just try and keep up what they got going," Jefferson said.
Millsap sparked a 9-0 spurt in the fourth quarter to widen the gap to 78-68 with 6:16 to play.
"That run kind of stunned us. We weren't able to weather that storm," Allen said.
Marc Gasol and Allen both scored 21 points and Rudy Gay added 17, but the Grizzlies had 20 turnovers and appeared bothered by Utah's rugged style of defense.
"It's tough to play here. We all knew that," Gasol said. "They play extra hard and the crowd is unbelievable. We have to be better at the end."
Memphis lost leading scorer Zach Randolph to a right knee injury in the first quarter of a 104-64 loss at Chicago on Sunday. He has a torn MCL and is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
The Grizzlies beat two last-place teams this week in Sacramento and Minnesota without Randolph, but couldn't get scores or stops down the stretch against the Jazz. Utah topped 50 percent shooting and scored 52 points in the paint.
"Here's the deal: Zach's not here and if he was here, we still would have gotten our butts beat if we didn't execute down the stretch," Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said.
Howard left the previous game with a strained left quadriceps but healed enough to team with Gordon Hayward to play tight defense against Gay in the fourth quarter, including a steal when Memphis was still within striking distance.
"That was the plan: No easy buckets for them. We tried to make everything difficult," Hayward said.
The Jazz have won their last nine games against Memphis at home and overcame an early 10-point Memphis lead.
"We put an emphasis on winning at home. We are creating that edge and holding teams to low numbers and making it tough on them. That's the home-court advantage Utah is known for," Watson said.
