Why shouldn't you = 为什么你不应该？就这么简单

(过去)
A: I shouldn't have done it. (后悔做了一件自己认为不该做的事。)
B: Why shouldn't you?

(现在)
A: I shouldn't be here.
B: Why shouldn't you?

"The children enjoyed to be taken to the zoo" 则不正确，
因为 enjoy 不接 to infinitive:

enjoy + [ing form of verb] - 正确：
She enjoys dancing. (对)
enjoy + [to infinitive] - 错误:
She enjoys to dance. (错)

like 则两个都可以：
like + [ing form of verb] - 正确：
She likes dancing. (对)
like + [to infinitive] - 正确:
She likes to dance. (对)

比较常见的有：

acknowledge, admit, anticipate, avoid
celebrate
delay, deny, dislike, doubt
enjoy, excuse
finish
imagine, include
postpone, prevent
recollect, resist
stop
understand
suggest


Examples

I suggest taking him home.
We shall postpone playing the game.

基本上，有三种可能性：

(1) 有些[动词]之后只可用[to infinitive]
(2) 有些[动词]之后只可用[ing form of verb]
(3) 有些[动词]则[to infinitive] 或 [ing form of verb] 两者都可以用。

第(3)种可能性又有两种可能的状况：

(a) [动词] + [to infinitive] 和 [动词] + [ing form of verb]，两者的意思没有太大的分别，例：
He likes to swim.
He likes swimming.
这两句的意思没有什么分别。

(b) [动词] + [to infinitive] 和 [动词] + [ing form of verb]，两者的意思有很大分别，例：
He stopped to smoking.
He stopped smoking.
前一句是他停下来抽烟（从没抽烟到抽烟）
后一句是他停止抽烟（从抽烟到没抽烟）
两句的意思完全不一样。
