Wikipedia describes Pulau Ketam ... literally translated, means "Crab Island". It is a small island located off the coast of Port Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, and was founded circa 1880.
The island is easily accessible from the Port Klang jetty by ferry.The "floating houses" that come to view as visitors approach the islandis a sight to awe any city slickers. Perching casually on long woodenstilts, these dwellings are suspended about one to ten (1-10) metreabove sea level. The main thoroughfares are narrow concreted pavements,whilst in the residential areas, the older rickety wooden plank bridgescan still be seen. There are no cars in Pulau Ketam, only bicycles,some of which are motorised.
The locals are mainly Teochew and Hoklo (Hokkien) Chinese, with Teochew, Hokkien and Mandarin Chinese the main dialects spoken.

Yes, in just over 3 hours, one can travel by ferry toPulau Ketam, check out the idyllic lifestyle and take a bunch of photos(Nikon D80 with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and Tamron SP 90mm Macro f/2.8),have some seafood lunch, and return on the ferry! Memories ... priceless!
 
RM$7air-conditioned ferry ride each way, departs 45 mins past the hour,each hour. Hop on board the ferry, and pay when the attendant makes hisway around. The ride took 45 mins (Port Klang - Pulau Ketam), and 1hour on the return.

The local town! I like the quaint little police station, kinda reminds me of Mabul near Sipadan. I was surprised there wasn't more fresh fish on sale, perhaps cos' it was Friday lunchtime, and the "good stuff" is kept for the weekend tourist trade?
