SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Running out of forwards and centers, the Utah Jazz turned to rookie Kosta Koufos and seldom-used Kyrylo Fesenko. Both came through with career high scoring nights and anchored a patchwork lineup as Utah beat the weary Dallas Mavericks 97-88 on Friday night. Koufos scored 18 points and Fesenko added eight points as the short-handed Jazz pulled ahead early and never gave up the lead, ending Dallas' three-game winning streak. "It really seemed like they pulled together and tried to win the game right from the beginning of the ballgame,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "I was happy about that.'' With Utah missing its top three scorers and rebounders in Carlos Boozer (quad), Paul Millsap (knee) and Mehmet Okur (back), Koufos made his sixth career start and had his best game since leaving Ohio State after his freshman year. "I've got great teammates that know how to distribute the ball,'' Koufos said. Koufos was 8-for-11 and also had eight rebounds and the Jazz outscored the Mavericks 52-34 in the paint and topped his previous career high of 12 points. Fesenko, a second-year player out of the Ukraine, had never scored more than six points in a game before going 4-for-5 and blocking three shots on Friday. "Everybody who played minutes tonight contributed somehow,'' said Deron Williams, who had 17 points and 13 assists. Andrei Kirilenko made up for going 1-for-12 from the floor by pulling down 14 rebounds. Ronnie Brewer added 21 points and C.J. Miles added 14 points for Utah.

第二节威廉姆斯一直坐在场边休息，直到节中时才重新回到场上，此时爵士依然33-43落后对手10分之多。上半场还有3分30秒时威廉姆斯终于依靠跳投得到了他本场比赛的最初两分，此后他节末再以同样方式得到两分，之后又助攻布鲁尔跳投中的。然而最终爵士依然以43-56落后13分结束上半场。本节威廉姆斯得到4分和1次助攻。


下半场开始不久威廉姆斯又接连在助攻队友方面建功，并在节中上篮得手，爵士59-68将分差缩小到了个位数。不过此后威廉姆斯接连传球失误又跳投未中，火箭又取得了两位数的领先优势。临近节末威廉姆斯被替换下场，爵士最终70-80落后10分进入最后一节。本节威廉姆斯只有2分和2次助攻入账。


第四节开始大约3分30秒之后威廉姆斯重新回到场上，此时爵士78-86还落后8分，双方展开最后决战。在节中时威廉姆斯跳投未中，不过他之后接连助攻迈尔斯和科沃尔跳投得手，爵士88-91将分差缩小到只有3分。比赛还有大约1分40秒时威廉姆斯跳投中的，爵士只落后对手1分。此后威廉姆斯又跳投得到两分，但比赛只剩下24秒，阿尔斯通两罚全中后爵士还落后3分。之后科沃尔跳投得手，阿尔斯通两罚一中，威廉姆斯快速突破得手，两队战成96-96平进入加时赛。


加时赛威廉姆斯率先跳投得手，爵士取得领先，但此后姚明又将比分追至98-98平。威廉姆斯上篮遭到盖帽，阿尔斯通三分中的火箭领先3分。不过凭借着顽强的斗志爵士又将比分追平，双方进入第二个加时赛。


加时赛火箭连中两球占得先机，尽管此后威廉姆斯助攻科沃尔三分得手双方分差只差3分，但此后阿泰斯特完全主宰了比赛局面，爵士以115-120遗憾的输给了对手。

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Utah's power players are hurting, and Deron Williams has been for most of the season. Williams got out of bed Monday feeling his best and made sure the reeling Philadelphia 76ers knew it. He scored 27 points to help the short-handed Jazz beat Philadelphia 112-95. "It's probably the first time all season I've felt 100 percent, or close to it,'' Williams said. "It's the first game I've felt like that. Tonight, I was pain-free. I was definitely excited when I woke up this morning.'' With two of Utah's top three scorers out with injuries and Mehmet Okur limited with a sore back, the normally unselfish Williams made 11 of 18 shots, including four 3-pointers. He has battled ankle and calf injuries since the preseason. "He's looked so much more alive and looks healthier right now than I've seen him since he's been back,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "He has a lot more bounce in him it looks like than he had and that's great to see, because we certainly need everything he's able to give us.'' Williams was able to drive to the basket and get elevation on his long-range jumpers as the 76ers played the passing lanes more than focusing on stopping the Utah point guard. "He's our leader out there on the floor and he usually gets everyone involved. But he saw that he needed to take over tonight and score,'' said C.J. Miles, who had 14 points. Okur, who missed the last two games with back spasms, did not have any explosiveness - "He looked like he was pretty worn out,'' Sloan said - but was crafty enough to score 19 points and grab 10 rebounds. "They have to respect Memo everywhere on the court. He puts a lot of pressure on a defense,'' Williams said. "It was definitely good having him back. We needed him out there.'' Andrei Kirilenko, filling in for injured power forwards Carlos Boozer and Paul Millsap, had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and changed a number of shots in the lane.

Ariza came up with two of his season-high five steals in the last 2:22 and scored two fast-break baskets to help the Lakers beat the Utah Jazz 113-100 Friday night for their fifth straight win and 17th in 18 home games. "Two plays in a row Trevor changed the game,'' Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "He anticipates well. He's a cobra out there and he just strikes.'' Ariza had a dazzling 19-second stretch in which he swiped the ball, scored on a fast-break driving layup, got fouled, got another steal and scored on a layup. With 34 seconds left, he dunked on a fast break off a pass from Pau Gasol. "I got in some passing lanes and I made some big plays,'' Ariza said. "If we want to win, that's how we're going to do it, on the defensive end.'' Ariza finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and the five steals. "He was making great plays,'' Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "We put it right out there for him to get. I think I could've gotten a steal on those two.'' Gasol added 21 points, giving him 10,001 for his career, and had 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who were coming off a four-day break. Mehmet Okur had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Jazz, who have lost four of their last six and three in a row on the road, where they are 7-11. Ronnie Brewer added 20 points, and Deron Williams had 10 points and 12 assists. "I thought we gave ourselves a chance,'' Williams said. "We have a chance to beat them once we get healthy and once we get everyone back and start playing like what we are capable of.'' Millsap scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds to lead the Jazz to a 119-114 victory over the Warriors on Monday night. It was his 18th consecutive double-double in place of Boozer, who has missed 23 straight games since injuring his left knee on Nov. 19. Boozer will have arthroscopic knee surgery Friday. "aul made a couple blocks, got a couple steals and knocked the ball out of people's hands. I thought he was terrific tonight,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "He stays around the baskets and he stays after it.'' Deron Williams had 25 points and 15 assists, Ronnie Brewer scored seven crucial points down the stretch to help the Jazz hold off the Warriors. "Finishing is the key thing for us. They tried to make a run and we withstood it,'' Millsap said. Williams tied his season high in assists as the Jazz led most of the way but could never break the game open from the Warriors, despite the loss of Stephen Jackson to a hamstring injury at the end of the first half. Neither team led by more than nine in the run-and-gun contest. Paul Millsap posted his 18th consecutive double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, Mehmet Okur had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko added 15 for the Jazz.

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) After running slightly behind New Orleans in the first quarter, the Utah Jazz ran over the Hornets in the second and kept on going. The Jazz held the weary Hornets to two field goals in the second period during a 116-90 victory Wednesday night, pulling down more than twice as many rebounds and shutting down everybody except Chris Paul. Paul Millsap extended his NBA-leading streak of double-doubles to 19 games with 27 points and 14 rebounds as the Jazz easily won the first of three meetings against the Hornets, who were exhausted from a win over the Lakers in Los Angeles the night before. "We expected them to come in and give us a good ball game - especially coming off that good win against the Lakers,'' said Millsap, who also had five assists. "We came out with more energy and more intensity and came out with the win. Paul had 26 points and seven assists for the Hornets, but got little help from his teammates as Utah controlled everything inside and outrebounded New Orleans 55-26. The Hornets held off the Lakers 116-105 the night before and the fatigue set in after the first period Wednesday. Utah led 58-46 at halftime after New Orleans shot 2-for-13 from the floor and was outrebounded 18-7 during the second quarter. "Obviously it's a long trip for them to have to come up here, but that's the way it works out. You try to take advantage as much as you can,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. Mehmet Okur added 20 points for Utah, and Andrei Kirilenko had 13 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Korver had 15 points, Matt Harpring 10, and Deron Williams, who has been fighting a cold, added eight assists. "I just tried to push the ball and get everybody involved,'' Williams said. "Luckily everybody else stepped up and I didn't have to do much scoring tonight.''

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) The Utah Jazz wouldn't mind facing the Detroit Pistons more than twice a season. Detroit can't seem to beat Utah, especially with former Piston Mehmet Okur leading the Jazz. Okur had 22 points and seven rebounds against his former team and the Jazz beat the Pistons for the eighth straight time, 99-82 on Saturday night. "We play good against them here and also up there,'' said Okur, who was 8-for-9 from the field. "Hopefully, we're going to keep doing what we're doing.'' Okur was 3-for-3 from 3-point range and also made all three of his foul shots against the Pistons, who let him go to Utah as a free agent in 2004. Andrei Kirilenko had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Matt Harpring also scored 11 points to help the Jazz sweep the Pistons for the fourth straight season. Rodney Stuckey led the Pistons with 19 points. Allen Iverson added 11 points and five assists for Detroit, which last beat Utah in March 2005. Paul Millsap finished with nine points and seven rebounds, ending his streak of 19 straight double-doubles as he rested once Utah put away Detroit with a 22-3 run over the end of the third period and beginning of the fourth. The Jazz sacrificed his streak to give Millsap some rest in the fourth quarter on Saturday after learning that Carlos Boozer was out at least another four weeks after having surgery on his left knee. Millsap couldn't quite keep a straight face when tried to say he should have had a chance to continue the streak, breaking into a grin when he was asked about resting all of the fourth quarter "Hopefully I'll get another one started,'' Millsap said. "I don't think about it too much. I just think of it as me playing (hard) and things like that come with it.'' The Pistons were coming off a 93-90 win at Denver on Friday night and never held a lead on Saturday, which ended Detroit's four-game road trip. The Pistons kept it close until late in the third quarter, then unraveled.

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Mehmet Okur felt like he couldn't miss and was nearly right. Okur scored a career-high 43 points for Utah as the Jazz beat Indiana 120-113 Monday night, holding off a late push by the Pacers after they rallied from a 20-point deficit. Okur made 13 of 19 shots, going 3-for-4 on 3-pointers, and was 14-for-15 from the foul line while leading Utah to its fourth straight win. "I felt like one of those nights I wasn't going to miss,'' said Okur, the 6-foot-11 center who is the Jazz's top 3-point threat. "I took what they gave me. They gave me open shots and I took it.'' Andrei Kirilenko added a season-high 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Deron Williams also had a double-double with 23 points and 11 assists. Kirilenko and Williams combined to score the Jazz's last 15 points, including a 3-pointer with 1:25 left by Williams that just beat the shot clock and helped the Jazz finally clinch the win. Indiana was the third straight opponent to come to Utah after playing on the road the previous night. The Hornets and Pistons both wilted when the Jazz pulled away to big leads in the previous two games, but the Pacers continued to push and made it a game again with a 16-0 run midway through the second half. "We had a little slip-up. Any time you play a team like this, they're a risk of scoring a lot of points in a hurry,'' Williams said. "They shoot a lot of '3s.' If they get hot, three points adds up.'' Indiana's Danny Granger had 30 points and seven assists, one night after tying his career high with 42 points in a loss at Golden State. Mike Dunleavy scored 20 points and Troy Murphy added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Pacers, who lost their third straight as they closed out a five-game road trip. "We let them get such a big lead that we were fighting back the whole time,'' said Granger, who was 6-for-7 from 3-point range. Indiana's reserves outscored Utah's 46-9, but the Pacers couldn't stop Okur as he made 12 of his first 14 shots. His previous career high was 38, set in January 2007 at Washington. OKLAHOMA CITY(AP) The presence of big man Nenad Krstic is beginning to pay off in a big way for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In just his fifth game since being signed away from a Russian league, Krstic had 14 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday night in helping the Thunder beat the Utah Jazz 114-93. Nine of his rebounds came at the defensive end as Oklahoma City outrebounded the Jazz 48-26. "I'm feeling better and better stepping on the court,'' said the 7-footer from Serbia. "When you play tough defense and they miss shots, you have a chance to get rebounds.'' Jeff Green scored 23 points, Russell Westbrook added 22 and Kevin Durant had 21 for the Thunder, which won for just the seventh time this season but the fourth time in the past eight games. "We're definitely playing a little better,'' said Nick Collison, who had 13 points and 11 rebounds. "There's a fine line in the NBA between winning and losing, and confidence is a big key. We're starting to get some.'' Deron Williams scored 25 points for the Jazz, which had a four-game winning streak ended. All of those came at home; this was the team's fifth straight loss on the road. Kyle Korver had 14 points, but just two in the second half. One of the best shooting teams in the league, Utah made just 10 of 24 shots in the third quarter when the Thunder went on a 22-7 run to take control and wound up scoring 36 points, its second-best quarter of the season. We had four good games at home where we have energy. We were unselfish, we made the plays,'' Williams said. "But we get on the road and I don't know, we feel like we can't win. MEMPHIS, Tenn.(AP) After an ankle injury sidelined him for the first 12 games of the season, Deron Williams is starting to like the one of the NBA's best again. The Utah guard scored 27 points and Ronnie Brewer added 21, leading the Jazz to a 101-91 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. "We came out last game without a lot of energy,'' Williams said of a 114-93 loss Tuesday at Oklahoma City. "I'm still dwelling on that loss. I'll dwell on that loss all season. It was a loss we shouldn't have had.'' It was also a lost that inspired Williams, whose steady play helped the Jazz win their seventh straight against the reeling Grizzlies. Memphis lost its fifth straight and for the 13th time in 15 games. "That game (against Oklahoma City) left a bad taste in our mouths,'' Brewer said. "We couldn't stay down because we had a young team in the Grizzlies.'' Grizzlies forward Darius Miles, who signed a 10-day contract Saturday, made his 10th appearance of the season Friday, placing the remaining $18 million of his salary back on Portland's payroll. The Trail Blazers sent out an e-mail earlier this month warning of possible legal action against any team signing the free agent, but the Grizzlies signed Miles. He finished with 10 points and seven rebounds in 14 minutes. Utah led 26-21 at the end of the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the game. But Memphis trimmed a 20-point deficit in the third quarter to five, 96-91, late in the fourth. Williams, though, prevented a comeback. With 1:23 left, Williams made a pull-up 3-pointer for a 99-91 advantage and Memphis misfired on its final three shots of the game. "We were still in the game late,'' Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni said. "They made a big 3-pointer against our zone with the shot clock running out. I thought that was a huge basket.''

DALLAS(AP) Just another game, Dirk Nowitzki insisted. Motivation? Only to help the Dallas Mavericks end a four-game losing streak, not to settle any scores against his nemesis, the Utah Jazz. Regardless of the source - or sources - of inspiration, Nowitzki gave a brilliant performance Saturday night, making 16 of 20 shots and scoring 39 points to carry the Mavericks to a 115-108 victory over the Jazz. "It didn't matter if there was a hand in his face or two bodies on him,'' said Utah's Deron Williams. "He hit shot after shot and willed his team to victory.'' Nowitzki started strong and seemed to get better as the night went along. He scored nine points in the first quarter, 10 in the second, eight in the third and 12 in the fourth, despite getting his shooting elbow dinged and rolling his right ankle, both in the closing minutes. He was 7-of-8 in the second half. He also was emotional all night, punctuating his toughest shots with screams or fist pumps. "Just one of those games where things went in that don't usually go in,'' Nowitzki said. Jason Kidd said Nowitzki got rolling because he had open looks on his first few shots. Kidd also joked that "we just wanted to keep him on the floor or in the arena,'' a teasing reference to Nowitzki getting tossed from the last game against the Jazz for throwing a punch, then getting suspended from the next game. He also was suspended following a game against Utah last season. "It was good that he made it through,'' Kidd said, smirking. "We're taking baby steps, in that sense.'' Nowitzki also went over 18,000 career points. He's 55th on the career scoring list, seventh among active players. But the only stat Nowitzki cared about was ending the losing skid, especially with Dallas heading out on a four-game road trip through the frigid East. "Whoever was coming in today, we had to get this win,'' he said. He wouldn't even acknowledge that it was sweeter to get it against the Jazz. "I really don't see the history with Utah,'' Nowitzki said. "It's always that we have trouble in Salt Lake City, where they just let them get away with some stuff. But here in Dallas we don't have a problem.'' Said Jazz coach Jerry Sloan: "He looks like he's motivated every time he plays against us.'' Kidd had 11 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds, Jason Terry added 22 points and Brandon Bass scored a season-high 17 to keep the Mavericks from matching their longest losing skid of the season. "The big German came to play tonight,'' Terry said. "It wasn't his jump shooting, it was him getting to the basket and being aggressive. Every time he had an opportunity, he made them pay.'' Williams had 30 points and nine assists before fouling out in the last minute, and Mehmet Okur had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Utah. The Jazz lost for only the second time in their last seven games, but this was their sixth loss in their last seven road games. This also was Utah's 41st game; the Jazz are 24-17 at the midpoint of the season.

Okur and Jazz beat Wolves 112-107

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) When the game got tight, Mehmet Okur took over for the Utah Jazz. After the Minnesota Timberwolves cut a big lead to one, Okur hit consecutive 3-pointers to boosted the Jazz past Minnesota 112-107 Tuesday night for their seventh straight home win. Deron Williams twice drove to the basket and collapsed the defense to set up Okur. "My shot was cold in the first half but I tried to mix up my game in the second half,'' Okur said. "I knew it was going to be a long game, so I stayed focused and hungry. Deron did a good job finding me.'' The Wolves never led, but cut the lead the 97-96 on Randy Foyes 3-pointer. With a chance to claim their first lead, Al Jefferson, who had 25 points and eight rebounds, missed a jump hook and Okur grabbed the rebound. He then made his consecutive 3s and added a free throw. "Okur hit two big 3s, really big,'' Minnesota coach Kevin McHale said. "We just couldn't score and we really didn't get good looks after we got it to a one-point game. We had an opportunity there and we just couldn't capitalize.'' Williams, who had 17 points and 11 assists, followed Okur's shots with a jumper to expand the advantage to 106-97. Paul Millsap led Utah with 28 points and 15 rebounds and his dunk gave the Jazz a 97-89 lead midway through the fourth quarter. "I wanted to step up tonight. I had a tough game last time and I'm not used to that, so I felt like I needed to crash the boards hard tonight,'' Millsap said. Ryan Gomes and Foye led Minnesota's rally with late 3-pointers and each finished with 19 points. Sebastian Telfair scored 17, but couldn't keep the Timberwolves from losing a sixth consecutive game in Salt Lake. Williams and Kyle Korver made six free throws down the stretch to keep the Wolves at bay.

Yao, Alston carry Rockets past Jazz 108-99

HOUSTON(AP) No matter who's in the lineup, no matter when they meet during the season, the Houston Rockets always expect a tough game against the Utah Jazz. Yao Ming had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Rafer Alston scored 23 and the Rockets built a big lead, then hung on to beat the Jazz 108-99 on Wednesday night. Deron Williams had 32 points and 11 assists and Ronnie Brewer had 23 points for the Jazz, who've dropped seven of their past 10 road games. Andrei Kirilenko sat out for Utah after leaving Tuesday's game against Minnesota with a right ankle injury. Utah has also been playing without Carlos Boozer, who's expected to miss about two more weeks after knee surgery on Jan. 9. But just as they did in a double-overtime loss to Houston on Dec. 27, the Jazz rallied from 16 points down in the third quarter to make it interesting at the end. "It's really hard for them to give up,'' said Luis Scola, who had 19 points and nine rebounds for Houston. "That pretty much guarantees it's going to be a close game.'' This time, Houston led 91-87 before Von Wafer sank a 3-pointer from the corner with 2:35 left in the game, his first field goal of the second half. Wafer went 3-for-5 from 3-point range and scored 21 points. The Jazz got no closer than five after that, though Mehmet Okur missed an open 3 in the final minute that would've cut the lead to four again. "They're always going to be tough,'' Alston said. "They play so hard, they play intense, they don't back down. They compete with the best of them.'' The Rockets were also short-handed, playing again without Ron Artest and Tracy McGrady, who've missed most of January with injuries.

James leads Cavs over Jazz 102-97

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) After beating the buzzer to give Cleveland a win the night before, LeBron James enjoyed a much less dramatic finish Saturday. The result was the same: The Cavaliers won again and still had the best record in the NBA. James scored 33 points, pulled down 14 rebounds and was just one assist short of a triple-double while leading Cleveland to a 102-97 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday night. Mo Williams added 25 points and four assists, including three alley-oops to James, as the Cavs closed out a four-game road trip with their third straight win. "We came in with the mind-set to close out the road trip the right way and we did that,'' said James, who finished 14-for-27 from the field with his usual array of dazzling dunks. Cleveland's Anderson Varejao finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, going 7-for-8 from the floor while filling in for injured center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Deron Williams had a season-high 16 assists and scored 17 points for Utah, which had won seven straight at home. Paul Millsap finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds, but the Jazz could not keep up with the Cavs at the end despite Cleveland's late night Friday in a 106-105 win at Golden State on James' 19-foot jumper just before time expired. On Saturday, all James had to do in the final seconds was dribble out the clock after Cleveland held off Utah's final push. The Jazz missed two 3-pointers that could have tied it in the final minute and another 3 after Cleveland had gone up by five points. "We were right there. We had chances. We just didn't come up with the win,'' Deron Williams said. Williams tied it at 91 with a layup for Utah, then Mo Williams answered with a three-point play to start an 11-6 run for Cleveland over the last 2:41. Sasha Pavlovic scored 13 and grabbed a crucial defensive rebound as Utah tried to rally one more time. Mo Williams was 5-for-11 from 3-point range and Pavlovic finished 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Nene, Smith spark Nuggets' win over Jazz

DENVER(AP) Chauncey Billups can't fathom having a game like Nene did Sunday night. Nene tied a career high with 28 points and sank every one of his dazzling dozen shots in Denver's 117-97 rout of the Utah Jazz. "I don't think I'll ever go 12-for-12 because I'm going to shoot until I miss,'' Billups said. Nene's strategy? "If I make, I keep going,'' he said. "If I miss, I just pass the ball.'' Coach George Karl wasn't even aware of just how special a night his big Brazilian forward was having when he had him take a seat with more than six minutes left and the Nuggets comfortably ahead - not that he would have sent his big man back in for individual glory. Nene wasn't worried about his stats or even perfection, for that matter. "When I play, I don't care too much. I just try to finish hard and I'm surprised after the game to be 12-for-12, whatever, record. I give all the glory to God,'' Nene said after tying the franchise mark for shooting percentage. Bobby Jones also went 12-for-12 for the Nuggets against Golden State back on March 15, 1978. Nene is the third player since the team joined the NBA in 1976-77 to make 10 or more shots without a miss. Kenyon Martin made all 10 of his shots against Chicago on Nov. 23 of this season. Nene said he wasn't bummed at all about not staying in to break his career-high points total that he set against Sacramento on April 4, 2007. "I just worry about helping the team and giving my best,'' he said with a big grin. Karl was worried going in that Denver's five-day layoff might result in rust, but J.R. Smith quickly put those concerns to rest. Smith scored 13 of his 22 points in the first quarter, setting the tone for Denver's rare rout of Utah, which fell 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Nuggets in the Northwest Division with its third straight loss and second in 24 hours. The Jazz have been without star Carlos Boozer most of the season and he's not expected back from knee surgery for a couple more weeks. By that time, the Nuggets might have too big of a cushion for the Jazz to have much hope of defending their division title. Chauncey Billups added 22 points and Linas Kleiza came up with 18 off the bench for the Nuggets, who had lost 10 of their previous 13 against Utah.

Spurs beat Jazz 106-100 on strong fourth quarter

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Manu Ginobili saved San Antonio from the foul line, where the Spurs struggled the most. Ginobili made all eight of his foul shots in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his 13 points in the final period to help the Spurs hold off the Utah Jazz 106-100 on Tuesday night. Ginobili made 11 of 12 foul shots, saving the Spurs from an embarrassing night at the line and keeping the Jazz from rallying at the end. "Until that horn goes off, you're worried about whatever may happen,'' said Tim Duncan, who had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs. "Luckily enough, Manu was great down the stretch hitting free throws and giving us the lead we needed.'' The Spurs pulled away with a 10-0 run early in the fourth quarter and led the rest of the way, making their last 10 free throws to finish 21-for-32. Ginobili was 6-for-6 from the line in the final 24 seconds. "Manu is an important part of us winning basketball games,'' San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. "He was aggressive and got to go to the line.'' Tony Parker added 24 points and six assists for the Spurs, who have won five of six. Matt Bonner scored 20, going 6-for-7 on 3-pointers as the Spurs went 11-for-20 from beyond the arc. "They started off the second half really hot, knocking down 3s,'' said Ronnie Brewer, who led Utah with 23 points. "We put ourselves in a bad position and we had to fight our way out the rest of the game.'' Deron Williams had 19 points and 13 assists and Mehmet Okur had 22 points and a season-high 17 rebounds for Utah, which lost its fourth straight. The Jazz reserves were outscored by San Antonio's 25-6. Utah was without injured forwards Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) and Carlos Boozer (knee), but had a chance at the end after San Antonio struggled from the foul line.
