Thank you for your email and your interest in the university of Nottingham. I am pleased to inform you that we do consider students with UEC qualifications for first year entry. However students will need to have suitable grades for the course they want to study. For example only students with at least 6 grade A's in science subjects could be considered for first year entry on an undergraduate course in science and engineering subject. If you do not have the grades required for the course you wish to study then you may be eligible for a Foundation Course.

Please be aware that the above information should act only as a guide to the typical minimum and maximum requirements for admission to The University.  All applications are judged on individual merit and specific subject requirements. Statements of purpose (personal statements), letters of recommendation and work experience (where relevant) can play a part in assessing borderline applications, but the minimum and maximum entry criteria stated apply in most cases.

Competition for places at Oxford is very strong, and the UEC/MICSS would not usually be sufficient for you to make a competitive application. You would need to supplement your existing qualifications with further study equivalent to AAA at A-level. You might want to consider taking A-levels or another equivalent, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB). We would be looking for a performance around 38 to 40 in the IB, including core points, with 6s or 7s in the higher subjects. The first year of an undergraduate degree at another university could also be an acceptable alternative.

For further information about institutions offering these qualifications in your country, you may wish to contact your local British Council (www.britishcouncil.org) or the International Baccalaureate Organisation (www.ibo.org).

The University of Cambridge requires applicants to have studied A Levels or a qualification that is of equivalent educational standard to A Level.  Unfortunately, the UEC is not equivalent to full A Levels and therefore would not be sufficient to make a realistic application to the University of Cambridge.
