Liverpool Boss Rafael Benitez Will Not Take 'Any Risks' With Alberto AquilaniSummer recruit's first league start may be pushed back.Nov 19, 2009 3:43:03 PM



Rafael Benitez has claimed that Alberto Aquilani, a ￡17 million summer signing from Serie A side Roma, will have to wait for his first start in Liverpool colours.

Despite passing a medical, the Italian playmaking midfielder has been sidelined due to an ankle injury, and has been limited to cameo substitute appearances in recent weeks.

The form of the Reds has also suffered of late, but this has not altered Benitez's mindset, the manager refusing to rush the player's rehabilitation.
"Alberto wants to play for us and he is so desperate to be involved as quickly as he can but he understands the reasons he cannot start yet," the Spaniard explained toThe Daily Mail.

"He wants to keep improving his condition and now it is just a matter of him keeping calm as it will not be long before he is there. He is pushing us all the time.
"He is very positive and wants to help the team now but you must remember that we have a responsibility to him, and we will not take any risks at this stage."
He continued: "We have got to keep analysing the situation and watching him in every training session but we know that the right time is nearly here. He has a very good mentality.
"You can see in everything he does that he has got quality. He knows when to pass at the right time and to the right players, he makes good decisions on the pitch.
"Alberto is training really well and he is doing extra work to make sure he is in the best possible condition; I spoke with him in the gym this week and he is very positive, his spirits are good.
"We have meetings every day with our medical staff to see how much we can keep pushing him and when the time is right to increase the levels of his work.
"He is a player who can pass the ball and we have seen that in the games he has played so far, even though he has not had too much time on the pitch."

今天早些时候，《卫报》分析指出，今夏花费了利物浦2000万英镑的阿奎拉尼有望首发出战曼城。但很快，贝帅就出面予以否认，他在接受利物浦官网采访时明确表示，阿奎拉尼还需要等待，意大利的身体状况仍达不到首发的标准。此外，昔日红军名宿、BBC名嘴阿兰-汉森盛赞门神雷纳，将其比作小金人。

阿奎拉尼从罗马转会至利物浦一直受到伤病的困扰，随着时间的推移，意大利人的身体状况逐渐好转，现已恢复正常训练。阿奎拉尼的训练量不断加大，英国媒体开始呼吁利物浦尽早解冻阿奎拉尼，但贝帅并不想匆忙启用意大利人。

     贝帅在接搜官网采访时说道：“阿尔贝托（阿奎拉尼）希望尽快为我们比赛，但他知道为何他至今还未首发的原因。他希望继续提高自己的状态，现在他只需要保持冷静，不会再有多久。他非常的乐观，他希望现在就帮助球队，但他必须记住，我们对他有责任，不会让他冒险。我们必须认清形势，分析他的每次训练，但我们知道，这时刻（首发）已经临近。”

     虽然阿奎拉尼还需要时间来向首发迈进，但意大利人的能力已经得到了贝帅的高度认可。贝帅继续说道：“我们看到了他所做的一切，他具备能力，他知道何时传球，传给谁，在球场上他能做出正确的选择。阿尔贝托的训练非常好，他还做了其它的功课，以确保自己能够在最佳的状态。我昨天还在健身房与他聊天，他非常积极，精力充沛。我每天都与医疗人员开会，我们会在他达到标准后将他推上前台。纵观他迄今为止的比赛，他是那种可以传球的球员，尽管留给他（思考）的时间不多。”
