Last night I was reading the comments on the Angry Arab and I clicked on this link that someone posted there. It’s about sex tourism in Syria, about the girls (very, very young girls) who are forced to sell their bodies in Syria because of this disgusting war. All of the girls have a sad story, they have watched their families be slaughtered and are now forced to do what they must to take care of their children, siblings, sick parents, etc. (Isn’t liberation nice?)
When I first watched it I was completely outraged that there were so many men (very wealthy men) who were willing to exploit these young girls. There is one scene where a man is literally throwing money into the air–it was obscene, a wanton display of perverted arrogance. I was also pissed that Al Jazeera hasn’t done more to expose the men that are traveling to Syria on the weekends to have sex with these young girls. All of the Arabs I know are horrified by what is happening in Iraq, all of the Arabs I know think that what the Iraqi people are going through is a disgusting crime–so, I think that Al Jazeera should air something about the plight of these women in order to expose the perverted men that are traveling to other countries in order to get laid with child war refugees. I want those bastards to be shamed for what they are doing.
So, I got into a pretty heated conversation with someone last night about this video, he was incensed equally by the exploitation of these young girls and by the seemingly detached coverage by MSNBC in reporting about the whole sordid sex tourism story–I completely agree with him. It was as though reporter was saying, “wow, look at these horrible Arab men taking advantage of these young girls…” as if the fact that these young girls need to sell their bodies for money isn’t the fault of the criminal invasion of Iraq. And of course as if American men don’t travel all around the world to have sex with 12 year old Asian sex slaves.
So where is Laura Bush? Is she done liberating Afghani women yet? When will she speak out against what these poor Iraqi girls have to do in order to survive? When will Laura Bush apologize to these girls for the fact that the U.S.A has forced them into child prostitution? Does she think that she has sexually liberated these girls? Is she going to go to all the Arab (or Muslim) countries and liberate all the Arab and Muslim girls from their toys and hijabs so that they can travel to other countries and entertain Bush’s Saudi friends with forced child prostitution? Maybe Laura will hand select which girls are sent to Bandar Bush. Read more if you can stomach it.
‘50,000 Iraqi refugees’ forced into prostitution: Women and girls, many alarmingly young, who fled the chaos at home are being further betrayed after reaching ’safety’ in Syria.
Desperate Iraqi Refugees Turn to Sex Trade in Syria: Back home in Iraq , Umm Hiba’s daughter was a devout schoolgirl, modest in her dress and serious about her studies. Hiba, who is now 16, wore the hijab, or Islamic head scarf, and rose early each day to say the dawn prayer before classes. But that was before militias began threatening their Baghdad neighborhood and Umm Hiba and her daughter fled to Syria last spring. There were no jobs, and Umm Hiba’s elderly father developed complications related to his diabetes.
Iraqi Woman Forced Into Prostitution: Nineteen-year-old Nafisa Ridwan says she was forced to work as a sex worker to feed her younger brothers after her father died in an attack in the capital, Baghdad. With her mother seriously sick with a heart condition and without anyone to look after the family, she had to resort to prostitution after failing to find other work.

How Many Child Prostitutes Is Bush Responsible For?

An estimated 50,000 prostitutes, some as young as 13, are among the 1.2 million Iraqis who fled to Syria after Bush invaded.
George Bush has been tied to a prostitution ring involving as many as 50,000 women and girls. The prostitutes, some as young as 13, are among the 1.2 million desperate Iraqis who fled to Syria after Bush's invasion of Iraq in 2003, according to the U.K. Independent.
Bush's invasion destroyed the Iraqi government and unleashed a wave of political and sectarian violence that has killed over 1 million Iraqis and forced 4 million to become refugees, according to the UN.
Facing starvation, as many as 50,000 women and girls have been forced into prostitution in Syria alone, according to Hana Ibrahim of the Women's Will Association.
"70 percent to 80 percent of the girls working this business in Damascus today are Iraqis," 23-year-old Abeer told the New York Times. "The rents here in Syria are too expensive for their families. If they go back to Iraq they'll be slaughtered, and this is the only work available."
According to the Times, "inexpensive Iraqi prostitutes have helped to make Syria a popular destination for sex tourists from wealthier countries in the Middle East. In the club's parking lot, nearly half of the cars had Saudi license plates."
Driving women and girls into prostitution violates numerous human rights agreements, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children. George Bush himself denounced sex trafficking at the United Nations in 2003.
Bush's invasion of a country that posed no threat to the U.S. was illegal under both U.S. and international law, according to legal experts. Bush has been convicted of war crimes by citizen tribunals around the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Istanbul. Just las week, the towns of Brattleboro and Marlboro Vermont voted to indict and arrest Bush and Cheney.
In 2002 and 2003, Bush led a propaganda campaign to defraud Congress, the American people, and key allies into believing Iraq was a threat. Bush claimed Iraq had stockpiles of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons to use against the U.S., and was sharing them with Al Qaeda.
Speaking near Rochester NY, Bush later admitted, "See in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."
According to a recent study by the Center for Public Integrity, top Bush Administration officials told at least 935 lies about Iraq on 532 separate occasions. These included 259 lies by Bush, 254 lies by Secretary of State Colin Powell, 109 lies by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, 109 lies by Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, 56 lies by National Security Advisor Condi Rice, and 48 lies by Vice President Cheney.
The lies about Iraqi WMD's were manufactured by the White House Iraq Group (WHIG), which included the most senior White House staff: White House Chief of Staff Andy Card, Condi Rice, Stephen Hadley, Karen Hughes, Mary Matalin, Jim Wilkinson, Nick Calio, Michael Gerson, and Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff, Scooter Libby.

Saifa's Story
"I know very well that I have a wrong life style and sometimes I hope to die".
Safia is 16 and a prostitute. Safia was convicted of an honour crime and spent three years in a juvenile prison in Iraq.
"My mother left us and my father, blind and unable to look after me, sent me to an orphanage. In 2003 I was made to leave the orphanage and so returned to my father."
Back in her family home, Safia had to find the means to fend for herself. She became a prostitute. Soon afterwards she was arrested and charged with prostitution. She was jailed for three years.
Now out of prison Safia has returned to prostitution. When asked why she continues such a dangerous occupation, she answered; "I want to live; to feel; to eat: just like other girls.
"Sometimes I hope to die and go up to heaven where there is no hunger, no fear and no bad people".
Naba's Story
Naba is 18 years old. Her father was disabled during the recent conflict. Her mother is in prison, charged with running a brothel from her home.
Naba's mother forced her to "take" a client; a traumatic experience which resulted in an illegitimate child.
Determined to provide for her baby as best she could, Naba took to begging on the streets of Iraq. She continues bears the burden of society's perception of her, which prevents her from building a life for her and her child. Says Naba, "I want to protect and keep my son with me, despite what people say".
"I can't talk to anybody and I can't meet anyone because if people knew who I was they would put me in jail. So it's better for me and my son to keep ourselves away from other people. I will stay with my son for the rest of my life. I want to get money to feed my son and buying medication for him".
Naba buys medicine for her son from pharmacies but she can't take him to the hospital because she doesn't have the required legal documents for him. Desperate to find a way out of her situation, Naba asks; "Now you know everything about my problem can you tell me please is there any solution? Can I be a part of this community?
Mostafa's Story
Mostafa is 14 years old. He is forced to guide clients to a brothel. The brothel is his house, the prostitutes his mother and sister. With no money or support, this is the only solution to survival the family could find.
It's now become part of normal life for Mostafa. He says; I'm used to working in prostitution, to this kind of living. It has become part of my daily life.
