the base dissociation constant of this reaction is very small,
thus the equilibrium shift to the right.

C6H5COO- react with  H2O to form very very small amount of C6H5COOH and OH-.
Since the coefficient of C6H5COOH and OH- in stoichiometric equation is 1, hence the amount of C6H5COOH and OH- formed is the same. So [C6H5COOH]=[OH-], Kb=[C6H5COOH][OH-]/0.5, thus, Kb=[OH-]^2/0.5

phenyl propenoic oid
it exhibits geometrical isomerism because it has C=C double bond and each of the carbon atom of C=C bonded to two different groups.

不用，phenylpropenoic acid就只有这个structural positional isomer

C6H5CH=CHCOOH 也会有另一个position isomer
那就是 CH2＝C(C6H5)COOH ==> 2-phenylpropenoic acid
好象也是可以喔？？？

你指的应该是 CH2 = CH(C6H4)COOH

如果有 －COOH group 与 alkene group 的话应该是 name as substituted carboxylic acid, 是吗？小弟觉得应该叫ethenylbenzoic acid？但可以是2 或 3 或 4－ethenylbenzoic acid不知道对不对。

C6H5CH=CHCOOH 与 CH2＝C(C6H5)COOH 只是 H 和 C6H5 的位置交换.

依小弟看来CH2＝C(C6H5)COOH 和 CH2 = CH(C6H4)COOH 是不一样的compound。


如果有不对之处请多多包涵，多多指教。

不会出现 CH=C(C6H5)COOH
benzene ring bonded to two groups(alkene and carboxyl group) ,therefore only exists as C6H4 .
