In London, England, Def Jam boss Antonio "L.A." Reid was showing off thetwo female jewels in their crown today with playbacks of the new JanetJackson and Mariah Carey albums.

Label boss Reid seemed very excited about both of them, although that is his job, and mentioned plans for six singles from Mariah's That Chick, which hits the stores in April.

Mariah Carey - That Chick
Their old diva (in terms of contract, not age, of course) is Mariah, who isriding high after the 7xPlatinum-selling Emancipation Of Mimi.

We got to hear 10 tracks from the follow-up, That Chick, which I have to say sounded more polished and commercial than Janet's effort.

One track in particular is set to make big bucks, and that's Bye Bye- a torch song for people "who lost they grandmothers". I guaranteethat Simon Cowell will be sick of hearing badly-realised auditions ofit by the end of the year.

Lyrics were never Carey's strongpoint, mind you, so her paean to loss is summed up withnot-very-insightful Hallmark platitudes like "I'd give the world to seeyour face" and "Life goes on". Profound, eh?

Still, at least it's better than when she desperately attempts to prove how bang up to date she is. In Touch My Body,she purrs to her lover: "If there's a camera up in here then I best notcatch this flick on youtube (youtube)". Not exactly the sexiest boudoircome-on you've ever heard, is it?

But there are plenty of good tunes to counter the awesomely bad lyrics. Migrate,about a night out with Mariah while she wears jeans ("yeah, they fit",she informs us) is sure to be a candidate for heavy MTV rotation,although I hope to God they excise T-Pain's hopelessly strained vocals.Lovin' You Long Time, meanwhile, is a strutting uptempo number very much in the style of It's Like That.

So,what have we learnt from this listening "event"? Well, I wasn'toverwhelmed by the music - despite (or perhaps because of) the fact itwas played so ear-splittingly loud that it felt like I was beingpunched repeatedly in the ears by a cyberman. Both artists have turnedin a tuneful, competent set of R&B songs, but I'm not sure that anyof them have the charisma or vitality to compete with the Rihannas and Beyonces of this world.

Mariah Carey zal binnenkort haar fans blij kunnen maken met een nieuw album. De plaat gaat ‘That Chick’ heten en zal in april uitkomen onder haar label Def Jam Records. Het label gaf een luistersessie voor de pers en fans en liet daar tien nieuwe nummers van Mariah horen. Volgens de aanwezigen heeft het nummer ‘Bye, Bye’ de grootste hitpotentie en zal zeker hoge ogen gooien. Het nummer is opgedragen aan iedereen die zijn oma heeft verloren.

De eerste single zal echter ‘Touch My Body’ zijn. De videoclip wordt op dit moment geschoten.

‘That Chick’ is de opvolger van ‘Emancipation of Mimi’, dat zeven keer platina behaalde.

According to Dutch radio Juize's site, the first single should be "Touch My Body" and Mariah is shooting the video at this moment.

Mariah Carey's first single from her forthcoming album, That Chick, due in stores April 1, is titled "Touch My Body" and is finally radio-ready! The song was co-written by MC with The Dream and was produced by Tricky. The Dream and Tricky were the hitmaking duo behind Rihanna's "Umbrella." There's no doubt that Carey can meet expectations but wil she exceed them? We'll know by Tuesday (2/12) when the single is officially digitally delivered to radio programmers across the country for reports on 2/18.

可能之前的表达有误,但是2月12日应该是可以听到新歌的

What i got from the 90 seconds were a more "raw" sounding Mariah, the tempo was her usual but something in her vocals sounded a bit more "live" than in the past and sexual sounding which she never has been able to really pull off, she does have more of that on this than ever. I just wish it was faster, but maybe when i hear a full version and not a piece from a promo disc that was copied from another promo disc, thats why im surprised its not all over the place already.

The album title hasn't been decided yet. It's not "That Chick".
The Universal Music Japan staff said that the album release was almost decided in April. "Wednesday" is generally a release date in Japan. Japan will become the first release in the world. Therefore, the release date of USA will not be April 1.

"Touch My Body"音乐录影带详情      

Mariah is shooting the music video to "Touch My Body" over this weekend - February 9th and 10th in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, California. The director of the video is Brett Ratner who previously directed "I Still Believe", "Heartbreaker", "Thank God I Found You", "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together".

Auditions were held for some parts in the video on Wednesday, February 6 in Santa Monica. One of the roles required a "geeky" looking guy. Actor Jack McBrayer, known for his role as Kenneth on NBC's 30 Rock will be appearing in the video.
