Francesco Antonioli (Bologna): MarcoDi Vaio may have grabbed the headlines after the 3-0 win overSampdoria, but goalkeeper Antonioli deserved huge praise also aftermaking at least four excellent saves, one in particular from RetoZiegler.
Defence
Marco Motta (Roma):Has had a stunning start to his Roma career since arriving from Udinesein January, and again impressed against his old club. Caused GiovanniPasquale all kinds of problems in the first half with his bombardingforward runs.
Felipe (Udinese): Showed why he was such ahighly-rated youngster a few years ago with a dominant performanceagainst Roma, silencing Julio Baptista, and also scoring down the otherend.
Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus): Displayed all of hisfamed battling qualities in the derby against Torino, and kept hisside's slim Scudetto hopes alive with a late header to win all threepoints.
Midfield
Fabio Liverani (Palermo):Ran the show in midfield against his former club Fiorentina duringPalermo's 2-0 victory in Tuscany. Liverani's passing was sublime, andhe played a big role in Miccoli's goal.
Esteban Cambiasso (Inter): Areal leader on the pitch in Inter's hard-fought win at Genoa, as he hadto switch to an unusual centre-back position following in-game injuriesto Marco Materazzi and Nicolas Burdisso.
Daniele Galloppa (Siena):Really caught the eye during Siena's surprise 3-0 success at Catania.Created the final goal for Lukas Jarolim, and crashed a rocket of ashot against the crossbar.
Trequartista
David Beckham (Milan): Back to his best during the 3-0 win overAtalanta, where he occupied the trequartista position. Beckham'spassing - long, short and mid-range - was immaculate. Celebrated thenews of his Milan deal in style.
Attack
Marco Di Vaio (Bologna):The 32-year-old's renaissance this season has been quite incredible,and he took his seasonal tally to 19 with all three goals in the 3-0win over Sampdoria. Looking odds-on to become Capocannoniere.
Pippo Inzaghi (Milan): Is now just two shy of 300 careergoals after his hat-trick against Atalanta. Trademark poacher's displayfrom a man who is quite simply a modern legend of the game.
Fabrizio Miccoli (Palermo):Along with Edison Cavani, the 29-year-old was a real thorn in theFiorentina backline. Sealed the game with a delightful finish into thebottom corner.

Roma have been the worst affected and, at the rate things are going, coach Luciano Spalletti will do well to put out a team on Wednesday night. The Giallorossi have three full-backs out in Marco Cassetti, Cicinho and Max Tonetto死到完. Christian Panucci is ineligible due to a moment of madness on the part of the Roma board, while every Lupi fan will be praying that Brazilian defender Juan
passes a late fitness test to play. With Simone Loria struggling too (most would say this is a good thing), the hugely erratic Souleymane Diamoutene will probably start if Juan doesn’t make it.
The Roma midfield has also been flattened. Simone Perrotta will be in the stands, the club’s most influential player Daniele De Rossi
is suspended, the playmaker, David Pizarro, is almost certainly out after injuring himself against Udinese on Saturday, while Alberto Aquilani, who has barely featured recently, will be nowhere near full fitness even if he makes the game.

The same is so for the talismanic Francesco Totti, who has not played since the 1-0 first leg defeat in London, when he was also only around 30 per cent fit. The classy Mirko Vucinic, a potential match-winner, will certainly play, but he is no Bionic Man at the moment either. Roma are walking wounded, but they will receive a massive boost if Arsenal’s Kolo Toure
misses the game with a calf muscle strain. The Ivorian has been excellent recently alongside William Gallas in the centre of defence but, as I stated in a debate a fortnight ago, Arsenal have no depth in their backline, and Roma will certainly be able to get at his potential replacement Johan Djourou.

Either way, this is a match where Juventus mayrequire a touch of fortune, or a piece of individual magic from DelPiero. ‘The Golden Boy’ has been rested for the last two games, so hewill be super-fresh to work his magic.

As for Inter, well they remain Italy’s best hope of reaching the quarter finals after the 0-0 stalemate at San Siro. Yet, they also have something of an injury crisis in defence, as Ivan Cordoba and the ‘Colombian Titus Bramble’ Nelson Rivas are the only centre backs who are certainly fit. Christian Chivu, and Nicolas Burdisso,Marco Maerazzti are out, while Walter Samuel is doubtful. If ‘The Wall’ fails to pull through, it is very possible that Mourinho will pull key midfielder Esteban Cambiasso back alongside Cordoba, a role he shone in during the far-from-convincing 2-0 weekend win at Genoa.
Inter will have to improve markedly from that game, as Genoa created and squandered a hatful of opportunities, were denied two one-on-ones by incorrect linesman flags, and also conceded a Mario Balotelli goal that did not clearly cross the line. Inter are not firing on all cylinders but Mourinho, who played a blinder by refusing to rule out the chances of him replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager, correctly maintained that “Our team has always overcome every problem. We are confident ahead of the game even if I might not be able to sleep well because of the problems in defence against a very strong team from an attacking point of view.”
