Raya surge: New cinemas [马来新年掀起新电影院]

27 Aug – Word from GSC headquarters is that the 9-screen GSC East Coast Mall in Kuantan, Pahang is to open by Raya season and that GSC was planning to expand its current facilities with some 24 multiplex screens at four locations, involving up to RM30 million.
Meanwhile, the delayed 8-screen MBO The Spring in Kuching, Sarawak has a new opening date – 9 September 2009. [以此同时，在砂拉越古晋新欣广场被延期开张的8屏幕MBO影院将定于2009年9月9日正式开张营业。]
These two locations will come as a treat to people celebrating Aidilfitri this season as they would be able to catch seasonal releases "Jin Notti" and "Momok The Movie" at a brand new cinema.
In a related note, the 4-screen GSC Mahkota Parade ceased operations on 17 August 2009.
