Every player can imagine himself winning. They can see it. That unbelievable play. That last second shot. They have dreams of greatness.
Now imagine waking up and realizing the dream is no longer enough. They want more. That’s change.
It’s realizing that a great dream is not as good as a great memory. The dream can be had by anybody. The memory must me made. Change is the difference you see from game to game, quarter to quarter, second to second.
They make you see each season as the only season. The next ring as the only ring.
Those are the guys who understand change. Who understand then versus now.
Dwight Howard: Then uncertainty was his only certainty. Now a chance for a place in history
The Nets: Then the address was different. Now new life with an old spirit.
LeBron James: Then the talk was what he can’t do. Now the talk is what can’t he do.
That’s the power of change.
When is the first time a player sees himself as a champion? If you think it’s in the reflection of the trophy, you are damn wrong.
He sees it the day when the dream is not longer enough. The day he decides to change.
