马华署理总会长拿督斯里魏家祥指出，首相拿督斯里纳吉早在2013年就献议承认统考，然而董总拒绝接受。

他说，董总主席拿督刘利民之前接受媒体访问时也证实，纳吉在2013年解散国会的前3天曾与董总会面。

“这项会面是直接绕过教育部长以及副部长的。”

“现在事情过了5年，希盟才将承认统考纳入大选宣言。”

魏家祥是在尊孔独立中学为2018年度留华高等教育展主持开幕后向媒体说，如果董总当时肯接受纳吉的献议，那么统考已经获得承认，至今也不会继续成为课题。

无论如何，他表示马华已经在国阵宣言的草本，纳入承认统考这一环，而最终版本将会在4月7日出炉。

他强调，国阵政府与反对党不同，国阵一直都很努力兑现承诺。

他举例，希盟总裁敦马哈迪最近接受外媒访问时，承认希盟可能无法兑现废除消费税以及大道收费的承诺。

“现在马哈迪还不没执政，所以没人会骂他。但对于国阵来说，我们会致力于兑现承诺。”

在早前，刘利民针对统考课题接受《M中文网》的访问，指纳吉确实在2013年大选前有提出承认统考的献议，条件是统考生就必须要报考大马教育文凭（SPM）国语单科并取得优等。

他说，首相纳吉提出该献议之后3天，国会就解散了，因此承认统考一事就不了了之。

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had proposed to recognise the Unified Examination Certification (UEC) back in 2013, but the offer was not accepted.

Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong revealed that the then United Chinese School Committees’ Association (Dong Zong) leadership had declined the PM's offer.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said Dong Zong chairman Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming revealed in a recent interview that Najib had met up with Dong Zong representatives three days before Parliament was dissolved for the last general election.

“PM Najib Razak met them straight without going through the then Education Minister and Deputy Education Minister.

“Five years have now passed, and Pakatan Harapan is including recognising UEC in their election manifesto,” Dr Wee said.

He was speaking to reporters after opening a China education fair at Confucian Private Secondary School here, which saw participation from 38 higher learning institutions from China and one from South Korea.

Dr Wee said if Dong Zong had accepted Najib’s offer in 2013, the question of recognising UEC would not exist today.

He reiterated that MCA had put it in the draft version of the Barisan Nasional manifesto, and the final version would be revealed on Apr 7.

He added that the Government always strives to work out the mechanism to realise its promises, unlike the Opposition.

“In an interview with Singapore’s The Straits Times, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad admitted that Pakatan Harapan might not be able to fulfill its manifesto of abolishing tolls and the Goods and Services Tax.

“He is not in the Government, so no one will scold him. But for us, we will work hard to fulfill our promises,” Dr Wee said.
