迪拜投資集團購10%
速伯瑪長期發展料受惠

（吉隆坡訊）迪拜投資集團（Dubai Investment Group）在10月購入速伯瑪（SUPERMX,7106）874萬股股票，崛起成為主要股東之一，被分析員視為有利於該集團整體發展，包括繼續擴展現有業務。
速伯瑪董事經理鄭金森指出，除了購入速伯瑪約10%股權外，新投資者也同時購入其聯號公司── 保利工業（SPOLYMR,5083）10%股權。
此外，消息透露，迪拜投資集團計劃也將撥出逾1億令吉投資在速伯瑪、保利工業和亞太工業（APLI,5479），並表示不會插手該集團和旗下公司管理和日常運作。
達證券表示，上述投資將對速伯瑪和旗下公司長期發展有利，並能按照公司原訂計劃繼續發展。

IN an environment where many manufacturers have reported smaller profits due to high raw material costs, the rubber gloves industry has shown its profitability can strengthen despite high latex costs.
Throughout the year, investors had felt uncertain as to whether glove manufacturers would be able to fully pass through the increased cost of latex.
Their concerns were not misplaced. Operating profit margins were narrowed in some of the glove companies, but their expanded production capacities and output were more than sufficient to enable them to produce higher profits.
They are understood to have raised their glove prices but each time this was done, latex prices climbed further, causing a timing difference before the revised glove prices can catch up with the cost of latex.
Profit margins should normalise, with latex prices having dropped about 10% this month. This easing in latex prices is believed to be linked to the decline in oil prices, which in turn, led to lower synthetic rubber prices.
But, even before this, Top Glove Corp Bhd could set a target for a 40% increase in net profit to RM78mil this year. It is the only glove maker with a total market value of over RM1bil. All the others have market values of less than RM500mil. Given its size now, Top Glove would find it easier to attract foreign funds into its stock.
Its share price has climbed about 10% in the last one month, against the grain of a weak overall market.
Top Glove intends to get even bigger. It will almost double its capacity from 180 lines of machinery to 350 lines within two years. There are two other fairly large glove makers - Supermax Corp Bhd and Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd.
Supermax has taken a different route in the expansion of its production platform - it acquired stakes in two other listed glove makers - APL Industries Bhd and Seal Polymer Industries Bhd.
Kossan is taking the same route as Top Glove. The former is expanding its production capacity by about 30% a year. Its earnings showed solid growth of 27% in its first half to RM14.2mil and this pace of expansion is expected to be maintainable.
Among the others, Rubberex Corp Bhd is specialised in industrial gloves. Its earnings growth rate is expected to be more moderate in the teens but it offers a dividend yield of about 10%, possibly the highest in the industry.
There are others including Integrated Rubber Corp Bhd and Adventa Bhd. Although these are relatively small companies, Adventa has its niche in surgical gloves.
Englotechs Holding Bhd is the most different from this set of mould. It makes knitted gloves from cotton and nylon instead of latex like the others.
It has become the cheapest glove-making stock in terms of price/earnings ratio (PE). This is largely due to a severe drop in its share price to 36.5 sen last Friday from about RM1 a year ago.
It posted a flattish net profit of RM4.5mil or earnings per share of 3.4 sen in the first half of the year. Annualised, the shares were valued at a PE of just 5.3 times.
Although this is not a large industry, gloves form an efficient and expanding component of the resource-based manufacturing sector.
Lion dance at Bursa
There was a lion dance at Bursa Malaysia last week but it was not the traditional type. It was a dance of the Lion group stocks, led by Lion Diversified Holdings Bhd (Lion Diversified) on the Exchange.
Lion Diversified's share price rose 50 sen to RM2.56 in the last one week, which pulled up the share prices of other related Lion group stocks.
This vindicated the views of some investors on the attractiveness of Lion Diversified as it launches an initial public offering (IPO) of Parkson Retail Group Ltd, currently a wholly-owned subsidiary, in Hong Kong.
At the same time, it surprised sceptics who thought sentiment in the Lion group stocks and the overall market was weak.
The related companies are Lion Corp Bhd which controls Lion Industries Corp Bhd (Lion Industries), which in turn controls Lion Diversified.
Amsteel Industries Bhd is also related in that it owned 92.4 million redeemable convertible unsecured loan stocks or RCULS that can be converted into Lion Diversified shares worth RM270mil at current prices, which is more than Amsteel's own market value.
Other than Lion Diversified, these are all penny stocks - Lion Corp (64 sen), Lion Industries (87.5 sen) and Amsteel (12 sen).
Supporters said Lion Diversified could bring up the prices of these stocks further. They pointed to Parkson Retail's exposure to China's consumer market of over one billion people compared with retail companies in Malaysia that have only 22 million people in the market.
Parkson Retail is expected to command a PE of at least 20 times, which will be two to three times Lion Diversified's PE of about 8 times. Supporters believe Lion Diversified's price will rise so that the valuation gap with Parkson Retail will narrow.
Time will tell, however, if the current buyers of the stocks in recent weeks are long-term investors, punters or hedge funds.
At any rate, Lion Diversified shows the additional dimension that can be gained from a successful foray into a large foreign market.
