The Chinese made Haval M4 is all about value
Posted on 2 August 2015 - 06:11pmKeshy DhillonTHEdebate has been raging for eons now - are cheap cars good?Well, the right answer, or what we have been led to believe to be right, is that good quality materials are more expensive because of the process it takes to build good quality items, and this means that cheaper items are of sub-standard quality. Or so it may seem. Meet the new Haval M4 by Great Wall Motors (GWM).Officially launched in Malaysia early this year, the M4 had everyone's attention with its catchy good looks, abundance of interior features and an irresistible price. Some bought it as the run about car, and some bought it just because it was a good deal. But then things began to go sour. Regular readers of these pages will recall a report on Great Wall Motors published in March of this year.Back then, the issue was that the M4 was slow to be delivered to buyers, specifically the automatic variant, and that customers had been kept waiting since the fourth quarter of 2014. Back then the reasoning was that the delay was due to some improvements that needed to be carried out on the automatic variants. On the bright side, things have improved, deliveries have started, and we got our hands on a brand new M4 for a few hours to see whether the wait was worth it. Naturally, waiting months to get something you have already paid for is never a good experience, but the M4 is truly an impressive small SUV, and dare we say it, well worth the wait.Firstly, despite Chinese car makers being notorious for copying the design of other car makers, GWM has walked its own path and came up with a rather good-looking design. It is not revolutionary and will not turn heads, but it is far from ugly. Step inside and you will be surprised that despite its size, there is decent space. Up front, a tall driver will find that the control pedals are placed too high up which can be a tad uncomfortable over long drives.- See more at: http://m.thesundaily.my/node/322347#sthash.OESI9gAA.dpuf |
