Man who held up sign calling for PM to resign at Raffles Place arrested
SINGAPORE — A man who had held up a sign at Raffles Place MRT station calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister was arrested on Tuesday (July 4).
The police spokesman said the 41-year-old had been detained at 12.53pm under the Public Order Act. TODAY understands that he was holding up a sign calling for the resignation of PM Lee Hsien Loong.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
PM's siblings, Mr Lee Hsien Yang and Dr Lee Wei Ling, had accused him of abusing his power in the handling of their late father and founding PM Lee Kuan Yew's home at 38 Oxley Road.
On Tuesday, PM Lee apologised to Singaporeans for the private family dispute that had been thrown into the public sphere by his siblings. He maintained that their allegations are "baseless" and that the two-special special parliamentary hearing have shown that the Government had "acted properly and with due process" in the matter.
