PETALING JAYA: Aeon Co. (M) Bhd is buying a piece of freehold land in Batu Pahat, Johor for RM34.85 million to build a new shopping centre.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Aeon said the acquisition is in line with its strategy to accelerate the expansion of its retail business through opening of new malls and outlets.

This is the third land acquisition by the group
in 2011 and all of them are above 750,000 sq ft each. This reflects the
group’s clear and planned strategy to expand its number of stores in
Malaysia. In Johor alone, this would be its 5th
store after its presence in
Taman Universiti, Permas Jaya, Tebrau City and Pulai (land acquired in
2007). This expansion plan is also in line with its parent company,
AEON Co Ltd which intends to ride on the strong Yen to accelerate its
investments overseas, as competition in Japan intensifies amid a
shrinking and aging population.

2013年7月18日，永旺以7020万令吉现金在柔佛新山购买土地，用于建盖新购物中心。

永旺跟柔佛置地【JLAND，6564，主板产业股】签署土地买卖协议，以7020万令吉现金向后者购入位于新山地不老(KEMPAS,Bandar Dato’ Onn, Johor  Bahru)约20.93英亩或91万1710平方尺的土地。

购价相当于每平方尺77令吉，永旺将通过内部资金来支付。
