Collector   Museum AA    博物馆AA	over 20 grams (100+ carats)    超过20克	Close to the top level of Moldavite perfection. This grade is only  slightly inferior to the perfection of our Reserve Grade - due to a matter of  opinion - my opinion that it didn't quite make the cut.    外形要接近顶级捷克陨石的外形	Good texture, colour    and shape.    要有优秀的纹理、颜色    和形状
Reserve Museum AAA    博物馆AAA	Over 20 grams or Perfect Besednice Hedgehogs of any size.    超过20克，或者是完美的“刺猬”	Perfect Moldavites only, no chips. Includes perfect Besednice Hogs of  any size. Expect to pay accordingly.    完美的捷克陨石没有缺口，完美的“刺猬”属于这个等级	Great texture and desirable shape. Perfection.    要有典型的纹理，优秀的外形

        Here are a few photos of Moldavite mining in the Czech Republic.  Moldavite is close to the surface and if you are in the right area and luck is with you, Moldavite can be found in the tailings of former diggings. Don't get the impression that you can walk around just picking it up, you need to know where to go and you have to have a great deal of patience.  The 3 small pieces in the photos took 2 people all day to find and they travelled to several locations.

        The Czech government put a stop to people digging deeper than 1 metre because, as you can see, it is very sandy and the pits collapse very easily trapping the miners.  In years gone by, many people used to dig in the forests - often unsuccessfully - but they left their mess behind making ugly and dangerous pits in the forests.  These areas are now guarded day and night to stop further deep holes being dug in the forests and more deaths.

Moldavite Mining Photographs
        According to the most accepted theory Moldavite Tektites are the result of a Meteorite impact which created the Reiss crater in Germany. On impact this meteorite melted together with the Earth and splashed a molten ball of what is now known as Moldavite into neighboring Czech Republic. Moldavite only comes from the Czech Republic and Moravia, contrary to many false claims on the internet.Tektites only come from meteorite impact sites. The most sought-after Moldavites are translucent glowing green. The color can vary from olive green to a bright, almost blue-green. Etching from naturally occurring acids and weathering conditions produced the surface texture of Moldavite. The different types of Moldavite are named after the village closest to the digging (Besednice, Chlum, Slavce, etc.). Moldavite is known as "Vltavin" in the Czech republic. This name comes from the Vltava river, a large river which runs through the Csezke Budjovice region, in the heart of the Moldavite fields. This river is also known as the Moldau river, giving us the name Moldavite.

                        The photographs shown here were made many years ago. They illustrate the arduous, wet and very muddy process of finding moldavite.
