I think the topics of this discussion is not right.  

Buying shares is just a purchase of a part of a company.  It is not wrong.  Everyone can do it.

Its the attitude of buying shares thats the problem.  Nothing to do with being Christian or non-christian.
If I think that company is working hard to build great products with very ethical working attitude, with no corruptions and support humanitarian efforts, I will buy his share, knowing for sure that company like this has better future.  

If I think Genting is encouraging gambling, which I do not support, I won't buy the share for that reason.

Christian adviser do not encourage anyone to be highly in debt too.  I thought about it and I agree he is right.  So I won't borrow money to buy share of good company.  I just buy small amount of the share, and see if the company grows well and work well.  As long as I am not in debt, I will not be a slave to the share.  ie, working very hard to pay off the loan for something I cannot afford in the first place.  

In my opinion, for any christian or non-christian to buy share from his saving, but not in debt, is not wrong.  If he lost his money, thats because he does not get enough information about the company to make the right decision.  It is not a sin. Afterall, he just want to get higher return for his saving, and probably eventually he will spend the money for his children etc.. Whats wrong with that.

But if speculator take high risk, borrow more than what he can afford, or loan from Ah Long, eventually lost most of the money, landing him in high debt etc.. that will be wrong from that person, not the share market.  He has the wrong attitude in this type of investment.  

So share market is just a tool.  Share in itself I think is neutral.
