Registration for the 25th Iron-man continues one by one. Some faces we recognized. Here is 58 year old Richard Holcomb, number two forteen back for the second try. He is legally blind but it doesn't matter to him. Now the thing that must occur at all course at this time is - cross the line. "It's more than race, it's a life time matter that we will remember for our lives. Either they are going to carry me up the course, or..err.. I'm going to cross the finish line."

The story is about people like Richard Holcomb, pass through this world as race recruit tour this morning. Hey!Have you ever heard about a man who is legally blind? People like to tell and like to hear the stories.

Then, appearing at the start line where there have been before, are father and son, Dick and Ricky Hoyt. There is no one here who hasn't heard about them, their stories, and the human commitment that goes far beyond, and far back.

"January 10, 1962. We knew something arrived but we don't know axactly what. The doctor said forget Rick. Put him away, put him into the institution, he is going to be nothing but vegetable for the rest of his life. We tried a little bit, we talked and we said no we are not going to put Rick away but we are going to bring Rick home, and bring him up like any other child.

We knew Rick was smart, we can tell by looking in his eyes, and when we talked to him, you know, he was paying attention to what we were saying. So we wanna get a computer build, so that Rick could communicate with us. Everybody came to our house that night for Rick to say his first word, and everybody was bearing, you know, what is the first word Rick is going to say, as mum saying it's going to be Hi Mum and me and dad were saying it's gonna be Hi Dad.

Dick is a military man, so he knows a thing or two about commitment. This time, he is just months amoved from heart attack. His gifts that he gives to his son, or the other way round. Either way started when Rick heard about a chairity run for paralyze atlicts. He asked 'Dad?' and dad says 'Yes!'.

"They kind of offer we offers the other runners and everybody thought Rick and I are going to the corner and turn around and come back. Well, we didn't. We finished the whole 5 miles and come in next to last, but not last. When we come home that night, Rick was on his computer 'Dad, when I was running on the field like my disability disappears'. So that was a very powerful message to me. We finally found a sport that Rick can get involve into just like everybody else."

"Rick is my motivator and he inspires me. To me, he is the one who is competing and I am just loaning my arms and my legs so that he can compete. This is something that gets into me when I am out there competing with Rick that I couldn't explain it, and we are able to go faster, and it's just a bluble feeling."

"Rick and I love the IMM tri-athelon, to be there, competing with the best tri-athelics of the world, to be accepted to compete along with these tri-athelics. Just to be out there on their peer, with the other tri-athelics and waiting in the water for the canon to go off as it is so exciting."
