Rhythm Ride
There was a hit song ‘The Rhythm is Going to Get You!’ by Gloria Estefan many years ago. Is it true? Can rhythm really get you? The central theme of this year’s Drum Slices concert is, rhythm. Rhythm is one of three basic elements of music and the most important. Combined with the best of melodies and harmonies the chances are,you get beautiful music. Just as rhythm is the key to music, passion is the key to success. Combined with dreams and focused guidance, chances are magic happens.
The young group involved in this years Drum Slices concert Rhythm Ride have over the past three years grown in thought, eagerness,confidence, creativity and passion. They have performed before. Attended camps in which they are provided guidance in composition, creative thinking and given the flexibility to express themselves through their skills and art. The fiery spirit of the young is what drives this concert. Riding on the rhythm of their youth, they are ready to share their passion, creations and dreams.
Rhythm Ride explores rhythm through drumming with percussions, the gamelan,mirrors puppetry through drumming and uses of shadows in all its tangles. In and between the pieces, theatrical movement and elements also add to the flow of this concert. The young people performing do seem to get the continuity in their lives, like a flow of energetic spirit,like a steady rhythm.
神驰节奏
这是一席家庭节庆飨宴？
是一席贵胄世家杯觥交错的飨宴？
还是一场宫廷仪典大讲排场的飨宴？
节奏的清灵、轻快或飞跃都全藏在一碟碟美食中，轮阵捧上以飨观众。其“菜风”可谓跨越西洋鼓、甘美朗、狮鼓及人体，或是跨越了音乐、舞蹈及戏剧。
这是手集团教练组与二团鼓手首次力尝以自身的创作，融合不同乐器的特色来精心"烹调"出以"节奏"之神韵为主的飨宴。
且让节奏成为口中美食似的，成为人人嗜之的鼓乐珍肴；让敲击乐成了具色、香、味般，进而领略出一个立体又绰约多姿的世界，捕获了观众的心神。
无论观众是有何偏好，想追求甚么"菜系"，以及介于其中各种味道的组合，都将在这剧场中得到款待。
