mySQL: connection between server and client

我把MySQL 4.1 安裝在XP Pro当做server. xp home 当做 client. 兩台電腦都設 fix ip, same workgroup.

再安裝mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.15-win32 在 CLIENT.

為何 client 不能連接 server's MySQL.

"Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server"

是因為 server 沒有 client's info?
是不是要加 hostname, ip, port 在 server 里?

command 要如何寫?

請各位幫幫忙...

在 client 那里你应该放 server ip 而不是 localhost

你的 user 是否可以从其他的 host 连接数据库呢？
从 server 连接 mysql 数据库，执行：
mysql>SELECT host,user FROM user;

看看那个 user 的 host 是否 client 的 IP 或 ‘%’。
如果不是，就需要 grant permission 了，例子：
mysql> grant select,insert,update,delete,create,drop
-> on somedb.* to someusr@"%" identified by 'passwrd';
