2010-2011
I learned a lot during those few weeks, mentally speaking. And since then things have got better. The national side has had a fair bit to do with that – I get a lot out of being a part of it"
法国名将基丹对他的评语: "Eden is technically gifted and very fast. I would take him to Real Madrid with my eyes closed. He can become a great footballer, he is a star of the future."
Shortly after agreeing to sign for Chelsea, Eden Hazard expressed his delight at becoming the latest acquisition by the European champions.
The highly-coveted Belgian international, who becomes our second addition to the squad for next season following the German midfielder Marko Marin, will now go away on holiday before linking up with his new teammates when pre-season training gets underway in July, and he admits he cannot wait to get started.
'It's a dream come true for me,' he tells the official Chelsea website. 'I can't wait to get started and for the season to start so I can meet my new teammates, the supporters and all the people who are involved.
'I want to play as many games as possible, score as many goals as possible and win a place in the hearts of the supporters.
'Ultimately, for a player it's all about winning things; I want to win as many trophies as possible, which is another reason why I came here as Chelsea have been winning things for a long time now, and I hope to win many more during my time here.'
As one of the most talented young players in European football, it's no secret that Hazard had a wealth of options when he decided to make the switch from Lille.
Players with the ability to win matches at the drop of a hat are always going to be sought after, and our supporters will take great heart from his decision to choose west London over other possible destinations.
The lure of Champions League football, coupled with our success in Munich, will certainly have caught the 21-year-old's eye, and having had a brief taste of playing on the biggest stage last season with Lille, he is eager for more.
'I watched the Champions League Final like everybody else,' he says. 'It puts a bit more pressure on the players who are already here but they're used to it, and I think I'm pretty good at coping under pressure.
'It's true that initially there were a number of clubs in for me, but when Chelsea won the Champions League I thought why not? It was a complicated decision with lots of different factors involved, but the fact that they have great players and are European champions, also coming to London, I know people here already and there are a few French speakers, I think I have made the right decision.'
Having showcased his unquestionable abilities in Ligue 1 since 2005, winning all manner of awards along the way - both individual and collective - it was seemingly inevitable that Hazard would one day move to test himself on a bigger stage.
But while he admits to a seriously ambitious streak, it took the words of a former Stamford Bridge favourite to convince him of where his future lay.
'People tend to talk about the French league as if it's not of a high standard, but I disagree. I think it's one of the best leagues in Europe, there are some very strong teams, particularly in defence, it's always difficult to score goals,' he admits.
'The biggest differences will be in the stadiums and atmospheres, and the fact that overall, players will be technically better.
'I spoke to Joe Cole and what he said above all was that Chelsea was the right club for me. As somebody who loves the club himself, he said he could really see me in the shirt, so when I see him next I'll tell him he was right.'
With Belgium failing to qualify for the European Championships, Hazard now has a nice break to fully prepare for what promises to be an interesting debut season with the Blues.
With Champions League and FA Cup trophies to defend, as well as a disappointing domestic league campaign to bounce back from, we will need to hit the ground running, and Hazard himself is confident that everything is in place to ensure next season is another successful one for the club.
'Chelsea had a great season even if we didn't do very well in the league. By anybody's standards, winning two cups is a great achievement, so it will be a big challenge to do better,' he argues.
'We're equipped to do that, and all I can hope is that while I'm here we can win a lot of trophies, that's what I'm aiming for.'
Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have agreed terms with Lille for the transfer of Eden Hazard.
The 21-year-old Belgian international has agreed personal terms with the club and today passed a medical examination. He will join the club in July when the players return for pre-season training.
You have been in London for the last few days... Are you already adapted?
He needs to adapt => been in london for a few days now to try it out. The weather is even worse than in the nord of france but he likes it a lot.
UK as competitor against france? How are the chances of France... you played against them this weekend.
In his opinion Begium played better football but England have quality players... had a great defense and also good counter football. Even rooney who was only on the field for the last 20 minutes was very present. France will find it difficult to win against them at the EC. But he saw a game of the French national team a while ago and he was impressed with the first half. If they play like this against England... They have a good chance to get something!
Until now Interviews were ignored. How do you feel?
Very good, calm... He let the hype happen but tried not to focus on it. He is already in vacation mood. 1 month of vacation now and he wants to relax.
Why did you choose Chelsea and not Real, Barcelona?
He wanted to go to England. He likes a lot the project that was presented to him by the Chelsea board ... old players left, new players will come in. He feels confident that he can find a good spot in the team and help to increase the level of the team next season. He also said he wanted to be sure to play. This was not the fact in Barcelona and Madrid and because he is still young, he needs gametime. That was also very important in his choice for Chelsea. Als as winners of the champions league they are qualified for the next CL => would be VERY important in his final decision!
He tells that he had very good talks with Lukaku about Chelsea. He told him that the atmosphere is great and that it's a very good and nice club. Very nice management & players. Furthermore also the contact Hazard had with the some french speaking players at Chelsea was very positive!
First you were going to Manchester. Why did you change your mind?
Chelsea were far in the leagues table => no CL next season. Something he really set himself as a condition for his new club. He was in contact with both Manchesters... and they had interesting offers for me. But with the European Titel and the certainty to play CL next season... things fell into place again for Chelsea!
He already had dinner with Roman and had a very good talk. He liked the ambition Romans shows and his plans for the future.. The ambition is big and Eden wants to be part of it!
Where will you play next season? Wing or in the CAM position.
Not really talked about that with RDM... They will see what position he likes best and see what the future brings. He is open for all positions.
Do you think RDM will stay?
I have absolutely no idea.
Why not PSG, because you were linked with them a lot?
It's a big club, nice city... but I have seen it in France for a while. Never been contacted directly by PSG eventhough media were telling that a lot.
What do you need to be a future Ballon d'or?
He feels that he needs to be part of a team that plays at the hightest level every week. He himself has to play good football week in/ week out... also in Europe and with the Belgian national team.
Are you ready to fight for you spot at chelsea? Because the competition will be fierce!
Absolutely... he feels ready to go for it and fight for his spot. Of course it's football and everything can change very quickly... but he feels confident to show himself in the pre season and gain a spot in the first team when the season starts.
Conclusion and some nice words for Lille and France in general.
He had 5 very good years at Lille. He finds it a pity that he cannot discover the new stadium... But he hopes to discover it soon.. maybe in another jersey. He also tells that the Bridge is also a very nice stadion... that's what players like... playing in great stadions!
Will you come back to the French championship someday?
Maybe someday yes.
Eden Hazard has revealed that he spoke to Lille team-mate Joe Cole about his former side Chelsea.
The Blues have announced that the Belgian will join the club in July, after they agreed a fee, thought to be around £32million, with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Hazard is confident he will adapt quickly, believing playing in the French league has stood him good stead for a career in the Premier League.
“People tend to talk about the French league as if it’s not of a high standard, but I disagree. I think it’s one of the best leagues in Europe, there are some very strong teams, particularly in defence, it’s always difficult to score goals,” he admits.
“The biggest differences will be in the stadiums and atmospheres, and the fact that overall, players will be technically better.
“I spoke to Joe Cole and what he said above all was that Chelsea was the right club for me. As somebody who loves the club himself, he said he could really see me in the shirt, so when I see him next I’ll tell him he was right.”
Eden Hazard Natasha will marry next June in Ecaussines

Eden religiously married Natasha in a chapel near Aix-en Provence, a region in which the paternal uncle of Eden is a cottage with guest house. A few days earlier, Eden and Natasha, who are already parents of a baby Yannis, to be civilly married in Ecaussinnes, place of residence of the bride's family (his father is Stephen Van Honacker, doctor).
